“Two Star, Too Cool”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

What a lovely little boutique hotel renovated with good humor in good taste. Perfect location, 24/24 reception where kindness comes with the service. Although there was no mini-bar I was touched that I was offered a bottle of mineral water when I came in after a big night out. The bed was super comfortable, toilet not in same room as bathroom (which I prefer) lovely bathroom and even trendy toiletries. Good wifi and tv with BBC for non-french speakers. A wonderful place to be on a low budget. Breakfast was delicious - good coffee, fresh juice and fresh bakery assortment.

Being situated down a small side street but so close to the centre of the city makes the location just ideal. There are cafes and restaurants around the corner and the fabulous river frontage is only a few minutes walk away. The hotel isn't luxurious but it's well decorated and great value for a city break. The staff are friendly. Breakfast is a typical French petit dejuner, but yogurt and fruit compote is a welcome addition. Even without air con our room on the first floor was cool enough on a hot August night - and quiet. But be warned there's no lift . . .

I chose this hotel because of great location, boutique rooms and reasonable price. I stayed altogether six nights on a business trip. I booked a single room and upon arrival, I received a room from the top floor (4th). Room was very small, decorated in tropical style with picture of beach on the wall and I very soon understood why - the temperature was unbearable day and night. There is no air-conditioning in this hotel. It is very hot in Bordeaux in July and the room had direct sunshine for whole afternoon and evening. I received a table ventilator from reception but it didn't cool the room, even when sleeping window open at night. For the last two nights I couldn't take the heat anymore especially because I had catched a flu, and I asked for room change. I received a double room from 1st floor and I was really happy with it. The temperature was much better in that room, because there was no direct sunlight into the room. The room was Jamaica-theme, not the prettiest one but cosy and big for a French double hotel room. Toilet and bathroom were separate and there was even a bathtub in the bathroom. Both rooms were clean and beds comfortable.

The staff was very friendly and after changing the room, manager decided not to charge any extra for bigger room, which was very kind. Everybody talks at least decent English, except the cleaning woman who also runs the breakfast service. Breakfast lacked fruits and protein, but it was otherwise nice.

All in all, I would go here again!

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to heat, request a room from 1st or 2nd floor if traveling during summertime.

The hotel is situated in the center of the town, 1 minute from the theater. So, late in the evening, when you are very tired, it is very practical. The staff is very friendly.
Every room is decorated differently, we've chosen 'black and white'. The room and the bathroom were rather small but it is very well appointed and beautiful. We stayed there on July the 14th, it was very hot, the room is on the third floor but we had a ventilator on the ceiling and we could sleep in a fresh room.
We took a good breakfast (€ 7,5) at 7 a.m. and we could leave at 7.30 because we had to do a trip of 770 kilometers.
There is no elevator, going to the 3th floor with heavy luggage is difficult.

Great value, very cool themed rooms, excellent service and amazing location it was quite warm and night even with the fan though. Better air con would make the place perfect! Easy to get to from the station and aiport (get the local bus line 1 rather than the navette) and close to great restaurants and shops.

I had a wonderful stay at this quirky little hotel. The location is amazing, right in the center of everything. The staff was friendly and gave excellent restaurant recommendations. The single room was small but with a well thought out layout so it didn't feel oppressively small. The room themes were fun (mine was Africa). My only minor quibble was the lack of protein at breakfast - again very minor quibble and the excellent coffee and tasty bread more than made up for it.

We have chosen this hotel for our w/e trip to Bordeaux as we were captivated by the original idea of thematic rooms. We did not chose our room in advance. Upon our arrival we were given the room "namaste" and let me tell you, it was the first time when a hotel room looked better in reality than it did in the internet pictures. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was huge for a French hotel!
The hotel has the best location you could expect for, right in the center of old city center, next to Grand Theatre. You can not get to be more central than this.
The price was reasonable and it was really worth it.
The hotel staff was very nice and we could leave the luggage at the hotel after checkout.
Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: I am not sure, but room "namaste" is one of the biggest rooms with a huge bathroom.
