“Good food but not cheap”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

We ate dinner here at the recommendation of the tourist bureau on Bastille Day. It was exceptionally busy due to the impending fireworks right in front of the restaurant and because of this they were only serving "a la carte" which pushed the price up. Nevertheless the food was good although the service was rushed. Perhaps on a different night it may have been better.

“A riverside delight”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

The beautiful tiled interior was what I was warned to note and indeed it is splendid, but the friendly attentive but not intrusive staff and the delicious food by the river make this a great dining choice in Bordeaux. If you order the oysters to start you'll also get s delicious ball of pork and veal to accompany it - yes it works! The main course pigeon was served with polenta but as I don't like this they gave me off menu potatoes instead - thanks!

“Ugh!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

The prix fixe menu offered three courses, each worse than the next.

The first course was a repulsively fatty pâté contained in a rock hard macaroon. The dinner went downhill from there. Scallops arrived dreadfully overlooked in a salty sauce the consistency of glue. Finally, the dessert was supposed to be a panna cotta had more gelatin than cream. It could have been used as a hand ball!

All of this was delivered by slow and inattentive waiters.

Go at your own risk.

“Great food”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We were a little apprehensive about this restaurant after we were seated and then left to our own devices for a long time, struggling with the French menu. But the waiter who arrived to take our order was extremely helpful and our meals were delicious. Not only that, but the fixed price menu at lunch was an excellent deal - recommended!

“Very good food in a delightful setting”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We have been coming to France for many decades, and lived here for six years back in the eighties, but we have rarely had a meal at the level of quality and price as we have had at lunch today. We arrived at 12:30 on a bank holiday weekend, without a reservation. There was one table left. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer: the initial welcome was a bit glacial, but we were just pleased to be in what was obviously a restaurant full of locals enjoying being there.
The food (mussels, and roast veal) was outstanding. The service was occasionally a bit amateurish, but who cared? The setting is delightful, and we were there to enjoy the food and wine. The set menu price for two courses was 20 euros each, which we thought was incredible value.
Obviously any review like this is based on a non-statistically-valid sample of one visit, but if we could have given more than 5 stars for today's experience we would happily have done so.
