Mercure Biarritz Centre Plaza
Ranked #26 of 64 Hotels in Biarritz
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Stayed here while visiting Biarritz for a week’s break. The hotel is in an ideal location but our room was a little bit tired and quite small. The hotel is very traditional and this has probably prevented any major updating but some refurbishment is probably due. As others have pointed out there is no restaurant in the evening and even the bar closed early. Breakfast although not extensive was good, especially the local cheeses.

Very centrally located hotel with secure if a little expensive car park. This was only a one night stay en-route to Portugal. Breakfast was very well presented. No restaurant for the evening but plenty to choose from locally.

Nice classic hotel without the modern gimmicks that make most hotels look the same. A beautiful open lift takes you up. The view of Biarritz is fantastic from here with the ocean on display for those on the west side of the hotel.

I've spent one week in Mercure Biarritz while travelling on business. Since I cannot compare with other hotels in the area, for me it was a nice hotel, with comfortable bed, old-style bathroom (but very nice one) and a good service. Parking space i available (cca. 50m from hotel entrance). The location is good to visit centre of Biarritz or sea.

Excellent location, central without being noisy.I cant stress what a plus point this is for being in the centre of what is a party town. It is an old hotel but that does have the plus point of having old thick walls which helps if you dont want to be kept awake by revellers coming in at 5am and we werent ! Its a busy hotel but the staff are very efficient and helpful. We upgraded our room and although it wasnt five star by any means (or even 4 star !) it was clean and in relatively good condition. We didnt bother with breakfast as it looked crap and expensive but whilst the communal areas were at times very very busy they were always tidy. We were there in height of the summer season and I think one of their busiest weeks and they made it work. Only just ! but they made it work. I think you can be unlucky and get a crap older room - we didnt but if we had I am sure it would have been a very different experience ! Basically it was expensive (due to time of year) but it worked for us I think though that this was due to luck not design !

Room Tip: upgrade from the basic room if possible
