This a typical modern Mercure Hotel but in a great location. It is literaly in the middle of Biarritz with shops and bars right outside the door. Its also only a few minutes walk from the beach. The rooms are all modern, very clean with excellant showers

If you stay in one of the nicely sized well-decorated Art Deco renovated rooms you oughtn't to be disappointed. Hotel has good price/quality ratio and an excellent central location not far from the Grand Plage. Also a warm welcome for my dog.

This hotel is situated in the very centre of Biarritz, close to shopping, beaches and restaurants. The hotel is in need of restoration, quite worn.
Our room (106) had a beautiful view over the ocean and a comfortable double bed, but cleaning could be better. Breakfast is expensive 18 Euro, and not so rich.
The hotel has a private parking which is handy. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Close to beach and shopping.
Private secure parking lot
Modern and clean rooms with all the amenities
Pleasant surprise for a difficult customer used to travelling 5 star hotels.
Negatives: carpets in common areas in need of a good cleaning

Stayed for two nights on our way back to the UK from Portugal, great position right opposite the casino and beach, friendly staff, hotel in need of a refurbishment , looking very tired in places, peeling paint and really needs to up date the air conditioning . Do not be tempted by a sea view room as the double glazing in not enough to keep out the noise of the night clubbers or casino. Beds comfortable, pillows not ! Bathroom clean and functional . Would stay again for position and staff .

The picture showing the hotel is a little bit confusing.
You see this semi circle building on the foreground, but that is not the hotel. On the right side of the picture above the semi circle you see a yellowish building, which is the hotel.
Some people say it is in art Deco style, but one look at the casino opposite ( white art Deco ) and the Hotel de Ville beside the hotel ( also white Art Deco ) you see the difference.
I must say however that inside, the hotel management did its best to give you the art Deco feeling. ( square toilets, square wash basins, glass square elevator )
The hotel claims to be 4 star but that is a little bit overdone, while 3 star is a litlle bit on the low side. The hotel has no restaurant for dinner, but you have some limited room service possibilities. Breakfast is ok, staff is friendly. The closed parking lot of the hotel is some 80/100 meters from the hotel.
Try to book a corner room, you have sea view. No balcony. Cleaning is not perfect. The empty cigarette package from a former room guest was laying in the window ledge for several days until I threw it away myself. Also there is considerable rust forming on the window ledges, so some maintenance might be a good idea.
For the privacy loving people be aware that if you have a corner room on the Hotel de Ville side ( the town hall ) during the work week, but also sometimes on saturdays the people working there can easily look into your room. So unless you do not care keep the drapes on that side closed.
In general a reasonable hotel in the middle of Biarritz very close to the casino and to a Disco, so be prepared for some noisy people in the night especially in the weekend.
There are some small pizza places around the hotel but unless you are on your last penny / cent it is not worth eating there. For a decent meal you probably have to go to the fisherman harbour area as there are many restaurants. When going there keep in mind that Biarritz is not easy on older people who do not walk too good. Streets go up and down even the sidewalks are unequal.
Talking about restaurants, some people mentioned " Chez Albert " on the fisherman harbour. I normally go there unannounced and never had trouble finding a table.
The staff is not always in a friendly mood so you might end up on a table right beside the fresh fish, crab, calimaris open vitrine.Do not worry there are 3 other restaurants on the site which by the way looks like a parking place.
The price/quality of the hotel is somewhat negative it being a Mercure hotel.
But this is Biarritz remember.
St Jean de Luz ( not far from Biarritz ) is to be recommended as is the " petite train de la Rhune " also not too far. ( You can go up and down by old fashioned open train wagons but also hike up the 900 meter high mountain. Be aware it can be crowded.
The hotel has a dedicated parking place in front of the entrance, so unload your luggage first.

Room Tip: Corner room the higher the better.

Stayed for one night in June. The rooms are a good size, with comfortable beds, a very good shower and good aircon. Just one problem is that breakfast is laid out in a small corner, which can create rather a scrum if you are all trying to get food/drinks to leave the hotel at the same time! Other than that, no complaints.
