La Baleine Bleu – Biarritz, Place Ste Eugenie 64 200 – 8 people ate and drank very well for 174 Euros (about $30 US per person). The mussels with garlic are highly recommended. Mussels come in various sauces to taste. There is also Basque specialities. We were there in late October 2013 so well off the tourist season. Perhaps that is the difference between our experience of having a good meal and service and the other reviews. We are native English speakers but also speak Spanish and Portuguese (no French though). One of the servers was from Spain, married to a Frenchman and so we could communicate easily and enjoyed our afternoon meal. They were accommodating of all our food questions as this was only our second day of the trip and we were still quite new to Basque cuisine.
