“Poor Hotel.Good Location.”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Firstly I have no idea how this Aparthotel has 4 Stars. No bar, No Pool, and no reception after 7.00 clock in the evening. We were booked into 2 bed apartment, although we had only booked for two people. The first thing that greets you in lift is a notice that informs you that 60 euros has been charged to your account and will only be cancelled after staff have checked and passed your kitchen on departure, this includes defrosting fridge, bit off putting we were only staying two nights. Walked down dark corridor with dark stained carpets on floor to our apartment.Good space but looking really tired, and horrible carpet on floor in bedroom.patio doors would not lock ,although they were fixed early next morning.have had better breakfast staying in hostels ,croissants, baguettes, cereal, small pots of some sort of fruit, cheese in little plastic packets. No fresh fruit, no meats.Really poor.Plus side Staff were excellent, really polite and helpful and Location of hotel is good.

We stayed at this apart hotel on our way to Portugal with our little dog. It was great, we had a lounge with a kitchen area so were able to have breakfast in the morning as we had an early start. Everything was clean and comfortable. We were close to all amenities, shops, restaurants, etc, but don't go for a view as it is in the middle of the town. We would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same with kitchen area but if at the front, there can be a bit of noise from t...

Stayed there for 7 nights in July 2013 myself,my wife and 2 daughters aged 17 & 18.The location is excellent for the centre and beach in Biarritz however the cost seemed high although it was the high season.
Not sure how it gets 4 stars as the facilities are a bit basic. It had WIFI but no Airconditioning, pool or bar facility(there was apparently a soft drinks bar but did not see that during the week). The lack of a pool was to be expected given the central location but AC and a bar would have been nice. The nightly cost in the high season was in excess of €200 which seems high for a small seaside town in South west France but the town is well worth a visit and this base does provide a great location to see it from. The accomation consisted of a living room/kitchenette, bedroom and the 2 bunk beds are quite cramped in an alcove especially if used by grown teenagers.

Room Tip: rooms with a garden rather than street view are preferable

We opted to rent an apartment in this aparthotel considering that the hotels in Biarritz charge fairly ludicrous off-season rates. In regards to location, you're very well placed (1 minute walk to restaurants, Galleries LaFayette etc., and about 5 to the beach. Carrefour, a French grocery shop is within easy reach also. We heard no noise at night (the hotel is on a side street anyway). Reception is closed for a lot of the time during the day ,however, you're given a code to the door so there's no chance of being locked out. I'm not sure why it's called "Residence Ocean" considering you can't actually see the ocean, but I'm not one to complain. The apartment itself was perfectly fine, not as a glamourous or fashionable as say, a Radisson, but it was functional, clean and comfortable. First off, free wi-fi, check! The bathroom was well appointed with soaps, gels, towels, good pressure shower and the washroom and toilet were separate. The kitchen, which was adjoined to the sitting room was slightly dated in decor but in good order regarding appliances with a dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, plenty of utensils, fridge and two ring cooker. The sofa folded out as a bed and there was spare bedding/pillows in the main bedroom which was a plus. You had a table with 4 chairs in the kitchen/living and an LCD TV, but it was small and had no English Speaking channels. The bedroom was a good size, with wardrobe storage and an adjoining balcony into the kitchen (with another table and chairs). The bunk bed was situated in an alcove off the main bedroom, enough to sleep two children or adults. I'm 6'0 and I didn't feel at all cramped in it! Beds were made and bathrooms cleaned with soaps refilled and towels changed everyday, but the one catch is you have to clean the kitchen before you leave but that wasn't much of a problem for us. I would recommend this hotel considering you get much of the same services, including an optional breakfast, wi-fi, maid service and above all more space, even if it isn't as trendy or luxurious it serves just fine.

We stayed in an apartment with a bedroom and 2 bunk beds for 2 nights in May. We appreciated the great location right in the center of town and activity, a mere 15 minutes stroll to the beach and market area. We also liked having the kitchenette to prepare snacks and drinks, as well as the spacious living room to unwind during the evenings. However, do note that it is not a full-service hotel, and there may be minor inconveniences to endure, such as no counter service during the afternoons and limited concierge services etc. I also found the cleanliness standards a little lacking, with the linens on the bunk bed quite sandy on the first night. So if you are particular about having your creature comforts, it would be best to stay in a regular hotel.

This aparthotel is located just 2 minutes walk from the centre of town. It is very clean and comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The apartments are very well equipped. There is cable TV with lots of TV stations but none in English. That didn't worry us but may be an issue if you are staying there with young children. Although the reception is not staffed 24 hours a day, there is a number to call if you need help.

These apartments are described as 4 stars. I wouldn't really concur with that. I can't find fault with anything at all but I just imagine a little more luxurious surroundings in a 4 star hotel.

Breakfast is available (continental-style) at €9 per head. I wouldn't bother. There is a fabulous bakery 2 mins walk from the hotel where you can get everything you need for breakfast.

For food shopping, there is a Carrefour supermarket about 10 mins walk away that will have all you need. It's open till 9pm Mon-Sat and until 1pm on Sunday.

Restaurants are pricey for what you get but we found a fabulous place called 'La Pizzeria' in Les Colonnes, about 5 mins walk. Great food, big portions and very reasonably priced.

We'd use this hotel again if we go back to Biarritz so I hope that's a good recommendation.

Room Tip: Rooms with a garden view are quieter but cost a little more.
