“Quality and Service”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

L'Imparfait is one of three excellent restaurants in a small area in the centre of Bergerac. The menu is typically French with an emphasis on regional specialities. The quality of the starters and main courses that we had was really excellent and the service was excellent. Having local cheese as a third course was frankly a mistake as they were far too mild for our taste. The service was efficient without being in any way aggressive.

I do not think the restaurant has a Michelin star, but it is near enough of that standard.

Booking is essential in summer.

“Consistently great food, great value, good ambiance.”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We've eaten at L'Imparfait four times over the last couple of years, and it's never disappointed. For this standard of food, the prices are more than reasonable (2 courses for about Eu 29, 3 for Eu 34 or so) with 3 or 4 choices. There is a la carte, if you fancy a bit more variety. It's high class French cooking, so expect foie gras, beef cheeks, duck etc. with excellent sauces and at least one fish choice. Sometimes there are dishes with supplemental charges - e.g. high quality fillet steak or lobster. Sweets / puddings are similar high quality, and levels of presentation excellent. A smoked salmon starter came with a glass cover filled with the smoke, which as well as being spectacular, also infused the salmon delightfully. Wine list is fine, and reasonably priced (if not notably cheap), especially if you stick the the local stuff, which seems to have been well selected.

On a good day, sitting outside in the little alley in old Bergerac is soothing to the soul, while the interior has genuine mediaeval character. Service is attentive, pleasant and discrete and those lacking much French will be fine. Also serves 7 days a week, - try finding anything else like this on a Monday in France!

Well worth a visit if you're in the Bergerac area.

We have had Sunday lunch indoors during the winter, and a sunny autumn lunch outside last weekend. Both times the food was tip top, the service excellent and friendly without being overpowering, and the whole experience to be recommended.

“Actually perfect”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 via mobile

I took my brother and family to visit this excellent restaurant

He was suitably impressed with the crunchy pigs trotters, the cheek of beef and the cassis sorbet

The local wines were also a treat
Particularly the white from jaubertie

Service as always impeccable
