After wandering around for a long time we picked this restaurant mostly because the staff were friendly and their English was better than my French!!! They were very helpful!
As if was Bastille Day it was a 3 course set menu. The food was plentiful and delish! There was a fabulous atmosphere and the restaurant was full. The waitresses worked very hard and we're very attentive! Kids are keen to go back! A lovely evening!

We settled on this restaurant after walking round most of Bergerac on our stop over there before going to Lot. As previous reviews have stated, it is in a lovely setting in a square. They weren't serving food until 7pm, however they offered us drinks and to browse the menus until they started service (we got there around 6pm). The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and a great sense of humour.

We both thought it was pricey, but this was one of the less expensive restaurants in the area. The food was superb and there was plenty of it. My fiancé had the duck special and it was two whole duck breast! I had steak and again it was two pieces of steak! I was disappointed with my dessert though, I had crème brulee, however all I could taste was egg (I make these a lot, so know what it should taste like).

The drinks were also extremely good, the wine on the specials board was gorgeous, as was the cocktail of the day.

We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

In Bergerac primarily to visit the Wednesday market, we looked at a lot of restaurants before settling on this one. Its situation decided it for us, a quiet and shady little square close to the river in the old town, with three other restaurants as neighbours. It was quite busy but we found a table for two in the shade of an ancient tree and were swiftly served. The plat du jour was really tasty, large prawns in their shells, grilled and served with a delicious sauce, ratatouille, saffron rice and a small salad, decent value at €13.50 per head including a choice from several good desserts. Friendly and efficient service, decent and reasonably priced house wine, what's not to like?

We had lunch at the restaurant today. We noticed it had changed hands. We were recommended the Entrecôte steak with cepe sauce by the waitress so we both ordered it. We were surprised how quickly it arrived. The meal wasn't very warm and I asked where the cepe sauce was and was told it's in the tiny plastic dish on the plate. Usually when we have had cepe sauce on food it's always been brown colour with the Cepes in the sauce this one was cream with green bits in. After eating some of the steak which was very dry and a few the chips which were over cooked and dry we told the waitress we couldn't eat it. We thought the meal was cooked perhaps in the morning and just reheated when we placed our order. She took the meals away then came back and asked if we wanted a dessert???
We told her No. She came back with the bill for the full meal. We said we were not prepared to pay the full price because the meal wasn't good and we didn't eat it. The manager arrived a very arrogant man who proceeded to tell us he orders all the meat and it's the best in the area and there is nothing wrong with it so we have to pay. We told him we weren't prepared to pay all of the bill so he told us he would call the police and called them. They arrived and we had a long conversation with them and I asked them to ask the manager to show them our meal. One policeman went into the restaurant then came out and said they had thrown it in the bin. In the end they asked us to pay for one meal which was what we were prepared to pay for at the beginning but the manager wouldn't let us speak. I told what happened to one of our friends and she said they had a bad experience at the same restaurant and would never use it again. Where is the customer care in this country. In our experience there isn't any.

We ate 3 times in this restaurant during a recent stay. Each time we sat inside the restaurant as the weather outside wasn't very pleasant. The reception and service was warm and welcoming and the food was excellent. I would imagine it is a very pleasant spot when you have the opportunity of sitting outside in the summer as the restaurant is situated right in the centre of the old town with its half timbered medieval buildings.
