We were in Bergerac all day for shopping and cars collection, so decided to visit the old town again and as other reviewers mention, there is a plethora of restaurants to choose from all within a short walking distance.
After perusing them all, we decided to plump for Restaurant Euskadi and we were very pleased with our choice. It wasn't a particularly warm day, but this restaurant was lovely and warm, the service really was very good , professional, enthusiastic and friendly.
When we arrived, just two other tables were occupied, when we left it was practically full with local business people ( a good endorsement!).
We had a superb, great value meal and a local bottle of wine and have to say, we will definitely return. The restaurant is ranked number 6 of 72 restaurants in Bergerac and one can understand why.
The food is different, it it's basque orientated and a very pleasant change from the norm.
We had a gesiers/salad and a seafood/salad starter and both were extremely enjoyable. This was followed by a delicious and generously sized sole, and a delightful sirloin steak cooked to perfection, both served with scrumptious garlic potatoes and shallots and peppers with a side salad.
We were too full to attempt the desserts, so rounded off our meal with cafes, a fond farewell, and a promise to return.
The restaurant is open Tuesday midday to Sunday midday,so closed Sunday evening and all day Monday. It is necessary to make reservations for Friday evenings and weekends, so be warned....book in advance for weekends ,even at this time of year!
All in all, a lovely restaurant, great ambience, great position, really well cooked food and very pleasant, friendly and professional staff.....Recommended!
