Good sized rooms, especially for Europe. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast and dinner tasty but pricey when compared to what else is available in town. Rooms a little tired but very comfortable and with all the convieniences you'd want including fridge and safe. Free wi-fi worked great in our room. The town and hotel reminded us of the Catskills in NY.

We did not intend to stay here but stumbled across the village of, Les Eyzies-de-Tayac on route to our camp site in the pouring rain (all camping abandonded!). All the other hotels we looked at seemed a bit pricey, but as it appeared off season the very friendly owner did us a great deal with a fabulous suite thrown in for the price. The hotel has clearly been there for many years and the decor likewise, but all very charming, we thought anyway. The room was exceptionally comfortable and everything is kept immaculately clean & tidy. The hotel appeared to have a great restaurant, although we felt the mainly elderly guests did not deserve our young children imposed upon them! All in all a really nice place to stay whilst visiting the area and recommend without hesitation to anybody.

Stayed here for four nights in July. The area is fantastic - filled with pre-history sites and medieval castles. Les Eyzies is a great town to stay in as it's central to the area and has the best lodging. One note: the lodging here and around the area is spartan to say the least. Old buildings, no a/c (didn't really need it but if it got hot, look out!), generally family run. Kind of like staying in any really small town in the US. This hotel was above average compared to others in the area, the family running it was very nice, but the rooms were a bit dusty and definitely dated.

The town was nice and offered a lot of dining options, all within walking distance. The area is the heart of the foie gras industry. Rent canoes to tour the area. As most of it was built in the middle ages, so all the towns are built along the rivers.

Lovely charming old hotel set into the cliff. Food was outstanding. Enjoy the town...it's genuinely old and interesting.

We spent two nights in early December in Les Eyzies, and while the weather was awful, the hotel was lovely. We basically had it to ourselves, as this is not a touristy time of year, but the family did an amazing job of making us feel welcome. The room was large, well-furnished and spotlessly clean. It was also warm, which we appreciated considering the weather outside. Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was excellent; good selection, well presented and delicious; very good wine list. We will definitely be back -- if only to see Alice, the family's shih-tszu that I was tempted to smuggle home...

I booked a room at this hotel after reading numerous good reviews in a variety of publications. However, on arriving at the hotel in on a very hot July day, we were told that they did not have a pool any longer due to a change in management (something they had ommited to mention in their information sheet!) Therefore if a pool in sweltering heat of south western France is important to you, you may want to look elsewhere. The hotel is also right on the busy main road into Les Eyzies and there is a LOT of noise during the night.

We have stayed at the Cro-Magnon on 5 separate occasions over the years. Without exception, each visit has been truly wonderful. We (my wife and I) went on 2 occasions and took our children the last 3 visits. We recommend it highly.
