This is one of the rare museums that still give you guided tours and our guide was absolutely wonderful. Like a true guide she had a contagious enthusiasm for the subject and eagerness for us to share in the best the museum had to offer! Try to replicate this using an audio guide...
We came after the museum reopened after lunch and took a 2:15 tour offered in English - it is highly recommended to get the most out of your visit. The tour was scheduled to only run for 1:30, but we ended up spending 2 hours and only covered the highlights (and we were the only ones on the tour!)
While you see wall paintings in nearby caves, the museum hosts a remarkable exhibition of prehistoric artifacts, all created over 10,000 years ago and some of them true works of art or very skillfully crafted tools. The visit to the museum shines a new light on thevabilities of our prehistoric ancestors.
