“Pretty town and very pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013 via mobile

Stayed two nights as part of a walking tour. Newly refurbished hotel offering exceptional accommodation and facilities. Beautiful rooms in the old barn (now 2 level 10 -12 bedroom section) bit noisy on the road side but would be pleasant overlooking there garden pool area. Food was exception although one in our party is lactose intolerant was unwell from suspected lactose intake at dinner, even after they were pre warned of his issue. Good breakfast choices, extensive wine list, great service. I loved it.

Driving around this beautiful region of France we spent some days a this hotel . The room was really nice and elegant , and it was a room with a view indeed . A view to their beautiful garden with a swimming pool asking to be dived in . The service was nice and the food fine , and the dinner at the pretty terrace at night a experience to enjoy .

Room Tip: A room with a view of the garden

This was our last stop after several days of a walking tour of the Dordogne Valley. Friendly staff at the front desk. Very nice room. The pool is set in a lovely garden. Our meal was superb. Foie gras starter (ubitiquitous in the Dordogne) was very generous. Then a beautifully presented duck breast with roasted vegetables and figs. Dessert included as well.
A short walk into this town with many buildings built into a cliff.

Oh dear - booked ahead, thought in for a treat. Friendly staff on reception to check in. Winding stairs to 1st floor not easy.
Room smaller than expected, and relatively small shower/bathroom. Room looked over road, with fair amount traffic. Clearly overpriced.
Discovered was/is family room, and I could hear the people next door, through the closed door. I relayed this to the staff, who didnt really want to know -"never any problem before".
I cancelled the dinner booking-very poor choice on menu, foie gras in two of the starters for example, and VERY overpriced 45 euro for 2 courses !! No comment as to why we might want not eat there. Silly prices on wine list.
Next morning - again looked at the buffet breakfast - no better than much cheaper standard overnight places we have sometimes used, didnt go for it.
Checkout-no enquiry as to possible problem raised...........
This place trades on its location in Les Eyzies - if you want to see the historical sites stay elsewhere, eat in more genuine places
We are "experienced " travellers in France, had a house there for 10 years, not given to writing this kind of review.
Hope the hotel reads these reviews, and so relieved we had not booked a longer break

Was a treat for our anniversary. Two nights with one dinner and no breakfasts. came to 500 euros. The room was beautiful, pale french decor, with a tiny patio area outside, but as the sun was on the back of the building we opted to sit in the garden by the swimming pool. The dinner we had was superb, faultless imformative staff. Canapes, Amuse bouche, entrees, main, and dessert, with a 45 euro wine and coffee and petit fours. We missed breakfast because we were simply too full in the morning. Easily found though in the village. The village is a short walk away and amazing with houses cut into the cliff face. Fantastic area for a break, should have spent longer there but we moved on south. Would go again but in September you are spoilt for choice in hotels in the region.

Staying in Les Eyzies for 6 nights and wanting to sample the best restaurants, we walked to this hotel to scope out the possibility of an evening meal. The young woman on the reception desk could not have been more helpful and is definitely a major asset to the hotel! We had a coffee on the terrace and a look at the menu before booking a table on the restaurant terrace for that evening. The setting is delightful, overlooking their private gardens. The food is exceptional, with ingredients coming from their own garden. My husband described his starter as "world class". Not cheap, but impecable setting, service and food.

Room Tip: Good idea to book, as this is a very popular restaurant with an extensive wine list
