“Well known jewel but a jewel all the same”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

visited last night with my disabled mother and three children under 11 as a party of 7. We had booked in advance and a lovely table awaited. Service very attentive dishes explained to us very well and we had 4 lots of he 29€ menu and one of the gourmet 41€ whilst the two young girls shared duck confit but had their own deserts! Not a single issue with any of the dishes just concerned that our culinary experience may have peaked too soon. Foie Gras and confit duck with substituted cheese for the sweet desert. Memorable in every way.
Thank you.

“Great food, local but creative”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Excellent meal with regional products. The cook is an artist. It was nice to meet him after the meal.
Price are fair for this quality.
The restaurant is great !

“Nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

Slightly difficult to find but worth the effort. The dining room has a cellar feel about it and provides a cozy atmosphere. The menu was meat-biased ( delicious duck) as you would expect in Perigueux.

The clientele was a mix of locals and tourists. Very pleasant staff. A nice evening.

“Dinner at Hercule Poireau”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

Probably the best restaurant of seven we tried in Perigueux (and they were all good). Despite the fact that a large party of French Rotarians had booked for the evening the service was still first class as was the meal.

“Un vrai chef est en cuisine!”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

This is a great restaurant with a real Chef en cuisine, which can be rare these days (he even comes to your table to take your order!).
Set in a beautiful medieval dining room, the place is stylishly decorated but the atmosphere remains very friendly and easygoing.
The food is simply gorgeous: fresh, seasonal (a customer was suprised not to see cèpes on the menu 'It's not the season' came the answer!), with the perfect seasoning. It is truly delightful because the products are first rate and the dishes are creative.
Even the knives are locally made!
So I recommend Hercule Poireau (what a name!) for any special occasion - or just the pleasure to enjoy French cuisine at its very best - and again at a very reasonable prive, to cap it all.
