“A little piece of heaven!”
Reviewed 9 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We stayed for a week in September 2014. The setting is absolutely delightful and we stayed in one of the 4 cottages called la Cuisine d'Alice which is part of a private old French country estate. The owners were extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful and went out of their way to make our visit as enjoyable as possible - giving us advice on visiting markets, brocantes, etc. The location is very peaceful and beautiful and our cottage was a perfect mix of a traditional stone farmhouse, with all modern amenities. If you are looking for a luxury and romantic self catering in the Dordogne, then this is your place! We hope to go back for another stay in not the distant future.

“Great old building perfectly renovated”
Reviewed 9 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Maxence and Francoise renovated the property respecting the buiding and adding creativity. We were in the Cuisine d'Alice, one of the houses which are all great. We enjoyed the swimming pool which is 12 long.
We are in the country and close to Cubjac village, where we could go by bike (kindly made available by Maxence and Francoise) in five minutes.

“Forever Memorable”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 for a stay in March 2014

In reviewing the pictures and comments for this wonderful property we are not sure how much more we could add- its all of this and more. The location is perfect for all the wonderful day trips we made in the Dordogne area. Special was our return home each night with a lovely dinner, with fresh bread from the local bakery, a glass of wine and a roaring fire. With Maxence and Catharine's advice and fantastic directions, we were able to find destinations and markets off the beaten track, areas that were not found in our tour books. The property has beautiful wooded trails, gorgeous gardens, and of course, our new found friend Zebulon, the pet donkey, who greeted us home each evening. We plan to return as soon as we can with our daughters to make more "Forever Memories"

“Perfect honeymoon destination”
Reviewed 23 December 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed here for 6 nights to kick off our honeymoon and it couldn't have been more perfect! Such a quiet and beautiful spot. Catherine and Maxence were so welcoming and helpful, we really enjoyed our time with them. There was a lovely honeymoon gift for us when we arrived also, such a lovely touch.
The weather was quite bad but it didn't matter one bit as there is so much to do in this beautiful part of the world. We visited the gorgeous local markets daily and enjoyed cooking in Cuisine D'Alice every night. The produce is just so good, making delicious and simple meals yourself is easy to do.
The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed for taking picnics out with us each day. The local patisserie is the best we experienced in France and the friendly 'Sophie' made sure we tried a bit of everything – all totally delicious! The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom beautifully decorated and the fire gorgeous…and needed despite it being summer! We dipped into the beautiful pool and enjoyed many breakfasts outside in the gorgeous gardens.
After a busy time getting married, this was the most perfect way to start our honeymoon and would recommend to anyone. Plenty to keep you busy and perfect for relaxing too. Our bike rides in the morning to collect our fresh croissants, bread and cakes are such perfect little memories.
With so many places to see and explore in the world we don't really believe in going somewhere twice. Cuisine d'Alice will be an exception to this. We would go back tomorrow if we could, but failing that – they'll definitely see us again sometime soon. Thank you Cathering and Maxence, what a beautiful place you have created.

“Great Time and Space”
Reviewed 29 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Great Time and Space

This is a wonderful place to be and to relax both inside the Cuisine d’Alice (beautiful comfortable accomodation) and outside on the grounds (swimming pool and walks). It is also a wonderful place to use as a base to visit the Dordogne with the help of Catherine and Maxence the 2 very warm, helpful and knowledgeable owners. I will be back, This is the best “Gite” I have ever been in.

“Perfect peace and quiet”
Reviewed 21 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We spent a wonderful relaxed week in La Cuisine d'Alice. It was ideal for my wife and I with just the right facilities we needed for our time. Despite the extreme heat for the first few days (up to 38C according to our car) the rooms were cool and refreshing when we got home. We really enjoyed the pool, and walking in the extensive oak woodlands surrounding the house. Zubellon the donkey and his companion sheep were always welcoming and we had a lot of fun feeding them both. Walking into the centre of the village for food and bread was easy. Despite a thoroughly indecent ability to communicate in French (I blame growing up in Africa) Catherine and Maxense were kindness personified in speaking to us in English and letting us know where the best places to go were. We loved Maxense's magic map he lent us.

Love the place, would really like to try it in winter so we could make very good use of the large open fire.

“Perfect setting for a romantic Dodogne holiday”
Reviewed 15 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This delightful cottage is the perfect setting for a romantic Dordogne holiday. As an Australian couple travelling to Cubjac for five days, we couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodation. La Cuisine d'Alice is beautifully furbished with tasteful finishes and great attention to detail... luxurious bed linens, hand painted bathroom tiles, well-equipped stylish kitchen, ipod dock private garden and inviting fire place. Le Maine is a beautiful property and Catherine and Maxence are the perfect hosts, from the first email communication to the fond farewell. They provide a warm welcome, helpful local advice for day trips and restaurants, as well as the sense that you have made friends (a highly desired thing but rarely achieved on holidays). Thank you for a wonderful stay. We look forward to our return!
