We just had one day to explore Perigueux so we decided to park the car in the underground carpark near to the Tourist Office and get some advice on what to see. They told us that the two main historic areas are the Medieval City and Roman City. Both are within walking distance so we bought a map for 50 centimes and set out. The morning was spent exploring the narrow old streets of the Medieval city which has markers on the walls to guide you along the recommended route. There are plenty of restaurants on the way for lunch. If you visit on a Saturday morning there are several markets too. The afternoon was devoted to the Roman city, including the Vesunna Museum.
