On a recent trip to Périgueux we dined at Café Louse on two occasions and each time we were delighted with our meals and the excellent service provided. The restaurant is right in the centre of the old town, opening on to an open square. Tables are both inside and outside - the decor of the restaurant is attractive and modern. On our first visit we enjoyed their pizzas, served hot straight from their oven - they were delicious. For dessert we had tiramisu which was magnificent! On our second visit we enjoyed a pasta dish and a pork dish; once again we enjoyed the tiramisu - all our dishes were delicious and well-presented. Our waitress was friendly and helpful as was the owner who we chatted with on both visits. His wife is the chef so it is a true family restaurant. We are English speaking, with limited French, and we found the staff to be helpful in explaining elements on the menu. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Périgueux.

Ravioli with comte cheese was delicious. The comfortable & attractively furnished dining room ensures the well executed dishes are enjoyable. Sadly the 'vitello tonato' was only an evening dish.

Thankfully a modern restaurant with new menu's in Perigueux! Lovely decor, polite owners and staff. Good wine list, well cooked and presented food. Good portions that leave space for the next course. Looking forward to the warmer months and sitting outside in this lovely square. Menu is quite limited, but as long as they change fairly regularly, locals will continue to eat there. Looking forward to returning, sadly good restaurants are somewhat lacking in Perigueux. Open Sunday lunch - closed Monday/Tuesdays.

We were visiting Perigueux for the day on a Sunday. Not many restaurants were open in the mid-afternoon, and this was the first we found after wandering the city center. First, it was packed. Most folks had made reservations and we could only get a seat at the bar. While that may not mean anything, I took it as a sign the restaurant was well liked by locals. Second, I liked the rustic charm it portrayed. Everything was well-appointed from the decor to the table settings to the bathrooms. It's always nice to eat somewhere that has a fresh, clean, charming appeal. As for the food, it was fantastic. I'm a vegan but settled on eating a vegetarian pizza. Nothing else on the menu really suited the vegan lifestyle. But i have to say that the pizza rocked. I love artichoke and it was a welcomed surprise to have that on my pizza. As I recall, the description only noted fresh veggies; it wasn't specific. Anyway, like I said, the pizza was outstanding and one of the best I've ever had. My mother was with me and also liked her meal. And to finish my lovely meal I enjoyed a scrumptious american coffee.
