“Nice hotel in a good location”
Reviewed 12 October 2013 via mobile

Have just had five nights here with a group travelling in this region. Our rooms are on the first floor, there is no street noise at all. Rooms are a nice size with tea/ coffee making facilities. I like the separate toilet setup. Bathroom a reasonable size with all the usual toiletries provided. Extra towel rail would be good tho. There's been a lovely young gentleman on the front desk and bar every day and he's been most accommodating with very request, and such a happy disposition. Unlike mr Crankypants who was the steward at breakfast this morning. Bring back Pascale , who has been wonderful every other morning. She's like a whirlwind, working so hard and always with a smile. Many thanks to her.
I liked this hotel and would stay again.

A most comfortable room. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. A huge breakfast selection and very friendly hotel staff. However, the outdoor seating are is OK but not particularly enjoyable as it is directly overlooking the car park, fine for a quick drink if you've had a long day out.
The 'old town' is only a couple of minutes walk away. Many little squares and an abundance of restaurants.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms overlook the square but traffic noise is minimal, very pleasant

We spent a very pleasant six nights at this modern central hotel. There are only ten parking spaces, reservable in advance,so my hire car was relegated to the underground public car park in the square. This is not expensive, and is convenient for all road directions, but is not pleasant. The spaces are too small for even a Peugeot 208, and two out of three are adjacent to a pillar. It is badly lit,and the headroom ismostly insufficient to raise a tailgate. On one occasion the barrier ticket, provided by the hotel, became inoperative for no obvious reason.
The hotel itself is of the usual Mercure standard, with fairly small and sparse looking rooms. However, there was plenty of stowage to fully unpack for six nights, with facilities for writing and simple wi-fi arrangements. There were teamaking facilities but no fridge. This was disappointing in such hot weather, but at least the air-conditioning was effective and quiet.
The poorest part of the room was the separate bathroom and toilet arrangement which did not allow enough space for a bathtub. The shower was too large, with no door and no handrails. Those unsteady on the feet will be afraid of a fall.Others will merely be annoyed when they get the towels, hanging on a rail inside the shower, wet. There is no shelf to stow anything dry, clear of the basin.
The location is close to the modern city, the mediaeval part, and the Roman remains. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, ranging from traditional French to a Pizzeria.
Breakfast has good choice and quality for15 Euros, and there is a Bar all day .

We stayed at this same hotel almost four years ago, so it is clear that I consider it the best option in Perigueux, taking in account proximity to the city center, service and average quality of rooms. I wish however to make one remark: as it happened four years ago the safe box in the room didn't work; of course I don't know if it was the same room, but in any case I think that a regular checking would be advisable.

Stayed here for three nights to explore the Dordogne a great location close to so many lovely Towns and Villiages. The staff were not very helpfull and the breakfast was well over priced so dintnt have that but the rooms were very clean and tidy and modern .Just across the road there was an Irish Bar good beer and not bad food if you want type of thing either side were other restraunts that served almost everything you would want .Would stay in this Hotel again wouldnt have the breakfast alot cheaper in town

We booked a Privilege room with a double bed and twin beds sofa bed. The sofa bed was set away from the bedroom in a little alcove, and was fantastic for the two children. They loved having their own beds (even if they were very close together) in a hotel room. Breakfast was included but it was free for the children so it was quite inexpensive. The hotel is close to town and within walking distance to some great restaurants. Well worth staying in it you are looking for a hotel in Perigueux.

Room Tip: Stay in a Privilege room for a little extra, with it just for the extra room.
