Best Western Plus Hotel Litteraire Alexandre Vialatte

The lady in the reception was very welcoming, she gave us a lot of useful information on how to get to the places and recommended few restaurants (We already had on mind some, so we did not try them).
Room was clean and size was ok. Bed was comfortable. It was in the 5th floor with a very nice view on the Cathedral and Puys de Dome. Furniture was modern.
Parking is a plus!
It is a good value for your money.( Better price if you book directly from the hotel web site).

This is the second time we've stayed here and on both occasions it has been very enjoyable. Very comfortable room with good soundproofed walls and window. Reception staff found us a restaurant that was open on bank holiday! Breakfast terrace is being renovated but the breakfast was excellent as before with some delicious local cheese.

Room Tip: Fifth floor has view of Cathedral and Puy de Dome.

Not a flashy hotel. They are going through renovations and the rooms are quite nice. It was a good value for the quality and comfort of the room.

The restaurant and lobby much be some of the last parts of the renovation. If the rooms are any indication, the hotel will have a fabulous feel once refit is completed.

The internet is complimentary and decent speed.

Suggestion to hotel: find better refrigerators. They barely keep anything below room temp.

Room Tip: Rooms along the front of the hotel are nice. They get evening sun. The street can be a little loud b...

We stood one night in a "big family room" with 2 adults and 2 children. Staff is very helpful and speaks reasonable english. Space in the suite was well, 2 rooms, each with TV (only french channels!!), this is a standard in smaller city hotels, no surprise for us, is always the same, a lot of French people still believes they are the center of the universe, like when Louis XIV was in power. So, why to offer foreign language channels in the hotel?

Breakfast is ok, enough and tasty, nothing to criticize nor highlight, small variety, but sufficient.

The hotel has a own parking, but you cannot book it, so during high season you can be in trouble when arriving late and you want to take just a small bag for one night, leaving all the baggage in the car.

Location is good, just on the limit where the old town starts. to the cathedral you have a nice walk through the small streets. Takes around 10 minutes. Small supermarket and food snacks are closed to the hotel.

The only annoying topic was, that we forgot a cap in the room. I contacted immediately (we had checked and left already) the hotel reception from the car, but no one found the nice cap. Isn't it strange? this is the reason for the lower rating.

Room Tip: Make sure you can deal with the uncertainty of the parking.

Booked this to stay when visiting for a rugby game. Great location on a nice square a 10-15 min walk from the train station, and a 15-20 min walk to the city centre. Only stayed for one night, but was impressed at the size of the bedroom and bathroom and how quiet it was even though we overlooked the square.

Only slight issue was that we ended up with one double bed instead of the requested twin room, but they did their best to try and find an alternative (unfortunately they were full) but we discovered that the sofa was a made up bed with a cover so all worked out fine.

My 'premium' room on the 4th floor had been recently 'upgraded' but that meant replacing older style fittings with more modern fittings that didn't quite work somehow - bright red plastic and wood for example.

The bed was very comfortable and the heating/ air con was fine. Nice to have a safe and a great coffee machine. The wifi reception was APPALLING and a major irritation, although it was free.

Breakfast is Ok but not up to the standard of other hotels in Clermont.

The hotel is well situated ( a bit of a dodgy walk from the station through Algiers v2), but the noise from the street below is constant and the drunks battling it out with their accompanying dogs in the little Place in front is a bit off-putting. (Not the hotel's fault I know).

Overall OK but falling behind the competition especially with a new hotel opening on the Place de Jaude v soon + the Oceania similar style but bigger and better, and the Holiday Inn up for refurb soon too. excellent location for Michelin HQ and Clermont Rugby.

Room Tip: Room at the back (côté cour) for quietness, room "vue sur la place" gets balcony but noise...
