“Interesting but a one-sided view”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

Clermont Ferrand is not really geared to tourism, but this museum is one of the better things to do in town. Needs about 1.5 or 2 hours to go round properly, and is quite interesting about the development of the tire industry and Michelin's other commercial activities over the years.

At some points focusses more on information, but there's an overriding sense throughout the museum of it being a corporate public relations exercise - the company is always portrayed as doing its best to solve the problems of humanity with very little objective discussion.

By all means go, but be prepared for quite a bit of corporate advertising.

“Well presented with plenty of content”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

We found the historical section on the ground floor the most interesting - tyres of course, but also the people, factories and transportation in general. Upstairs there is a focus on the companies logo over the decades, maps, guides and more on tyres. Explanations are in English and French and generally everything is well done.

Secure parking is included in the ticket price and there is a tram stop nearby with a short journey into town (your best option for some lunch).

“Great museum for the whole family”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This museum is top-notch! OK, Michelin - you think tires, maps, etc. but the museum is much more than just an advertisement for the company. It's a history of the family, the evolution of transportation, tires, modern media, marketing and lots more. Lots of videos, signage was in both French and English, along with many interactive exhibits. The museum has the usual audio listening aids for additional information if you want even more information. If you are anywhere near Clermont Ferrand, you should definitely put this on your list of places to visit.

“More than just tires”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Excellent place to visit. More than just tire manufacturers, the Michelin innovation history has lessons of courage to bring to the public knowledge.

“Interesting and informative”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

We enjoyed our afternoon at L'Aventure Michelin learning about the history of Michelin and the development of tyres from bicycles to radials. Allow plenty of time as there is a lot to see.
