This was a very quaint museum inside the tower, with lots of modelled scenes of Brest in the past including Napoleanic times as well as more recent.

Situated across the river from the main castle entry to this curious single tower construction is free - but requires physical mobility to tackle the stairs.

Inside is a display of the history of Brest with some interesting reproductions of early documents but what makes the visit worthwhile are the models. Depicting scenes around the town of its maritime history these models are breathtaking in their detail and colour and almost seem alive.

Well worth setting aside an hour.

Beautiful place with and amazing view to the port, if you go to Brest in the 14 of July, here is a good place to see the fireworks.

I went to the Castle of Brest before I visited this tower (and I recommend it this way!)
What this tower presents is complemented by what the Castle of Brest (Navy's museum) has, so both are a must in my opinion.

There is no admission and the tower is quite small (no pictures allowed!)

Anyways, the tower is filled with a lot of history regarding the actual town and its evolution through time, specific events, etc. Complementing this visit with the Navy's Museum is (my opinion) the best duo to provide you the full maritime picture about Brest nowadays and throughout time.

This tower was closed when we passed by on sunday morning, it is open in the afternoon and is free, it makes a good picture and is a part of old Brest
