“Another Great holiday at Les Menhirs”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

We stayed at Les Menhirs for 11 nights from 19th August. The weather was fabulous. We had stayed at Les Menhirs last year and returned as we enjoyed it so much. We travelled with Eurocamp from Plymouth to Roscoff overnight. We hadn't realised that we would be woken at 4.30 (British time) and had to leave the the ferry by 5.30 (6.30 local time). After a bit of a shock awakening we made our way to Carnac by 9.30. We went for a walk around the town until 11.30 then checked in. We were very pleased that our mobile home was ready for us and were shown to it by Eurocamp rep Fallon who was very helpful. Les Menhirs is a nice camp with friendly staff. There is an outdoor pool with two slides which is very well supervised. There is also an indoor pool (with limited opening times). There is a tennis court, table tennis, snooker tabe, football cage and a gym. There are various classes such as aquarobics during the day. My two boys aged 15 and 13 had a great time. They played football every evening with all nationalities joining in together. Each morning there is fresh bread and croissants delivered to the camspite shop which are delicious. The shop is quite small and only sells a limited amount of goods however there is a Super U supermarket about five minutes drive away which sells everything including petrol. The town of Carnac Plage is a typical seaside town and has shops, cafes and restaurants it is quite lively in the evening and is only about five to ten minutes walk away. The old town of Carnac is worth a visit it is about half an hours walk from the camspite. There is a craft market on Thursday evenings at six o'clock by the old church. Another great place to visit is Auray there is a market on Monday morning and then you can walk to St. Gustan across the bridge which is a really picturesque port. On site there is a laundry with plenty of washers and driers. The main beach of Carnac is only about five minutes walk away and there are plenty of other beaches a short drive away. My family and I would definitely recommend Les Menhirs for a thoroughly enjoyable family holiday. Storage is quite limited in the mobile homes for clothes and food. We took some food supplies with us in a large sealable plastic box which we then used to store food in the mobile home. There are quite a few insects about so this was useful. We had a mobile home with decking which was great and provided extra room.

Our family of five stayed here as part of a Keycamp holiday. the location is excellent for Carnac and the beach and very close to the standing stones and other megalithic sites. The staff from keycamp were fantastic and we had a lovely quiet pitch. The pool facilities were great for the family and we ended up each evening having a dip. Although it was signposted not supervised there was always campsite staff on duty who ensured everything was safe for users e.g. using the slides and being boisterous in the pool. We regularly used the shower blocks to get the children showered quickly and found them clean and hot. The site itself was really good fro cycling from and we made use of the cycle paths and the traffic calming measures which were great for our young riders. We walked from the site up into the older part of town and the church square away from the beach and the artists market one evening was really good. A good base for sight seeing and the beach.

Excellent location for carnac and the beaches. Great pool area, and indoor pool nice and warm for little ones. Excellent kids club, Katel was the loveliest person to run it. Pitches a little small but nice. Showers cool and not the cleanest but the real thing to put me off was the price of €58 per night. Too expensive for a slightly tired campsite. The room for evening entertainment needs a whole redesign, I've seen better seating in schools.

Our family of five (three children aged 8, 6 and 3) chose this site as a 3-night stopover on the way home from the Vendee in a Eurocamp mobile home as a bit of a 'end of camping holiday treat'.

The welcome from Fallon our rep was brilliant and the Eurocamp staff could not do enough for us. The site was clean and well run.

Following the problems we had with the pool at our previous site, we were really pleased with the way that the 'Piscine Supervisor' controlled the pool.
Any unruly behaviour was addressed immediately, ages of kids were checked, and there was a sense of it being 'safe'.
Our only complaint really was that the baby pool was not big enough for our 3 year old who cant swim but that is hardly the end of the world!

Carnac is a lovely little town and very very close, the beach was amazing and the cycling in the area brilliant!

Recommended!

Stayed here first week in July for a family holiday (2 adults, 2 children) I must say I timed this just right as the campsite was not at it's peak yet and was nice and quite.
Stayed with Keycamp and the caravan was clean and had everything you needed including bbq which was used plenty during the week.
Nice pool area with main pool and 2 water slide pools and a kids pool, my kids loved them who are aged 7 and 12.
Was well looked after by the site, keycamp staff were great.
Carnac has a lovely beach and there is lots to do, we visited the standing stones site, and 2 museums, also did a cycle tour of 12km around the town organised by Keycamp (Eurocamp) which was free (we did give the guide a tip at the end though as he was great).
All in all a great holiday.

Nice reps, nice campsite, clean swimming pool, beaches etc. Carnac is great - only downfall: the shop was rubbish and a lot of facilities were closed in June (low season). Might be best to go in july/august
