With a group of friends I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in September 2013. Be sure to arrive between 1600 and 1900 when reception is manned. Sat nav to the hotel took us one roundabout too far - take the roundabout 100 m nearer to Dinan (it has a restaurant sign on it) to find the hotel car park which is very adequate in size and was never full to capacity. The rooms, or rather suites are let in two different ways, a monthly rental with which you need to supply your own linen and towels, and do your own cleaning, or the daily basis which we used in which case the rooms are cleaned and the towels changed on a daily basis. We got excellent rates through booking.com. Thew rooms are very spacious, well equipped with a small kitchen and you can order bread/pain au choc or croissants from reception for the day following. The breakfast room is open 0800 to 1000 if you prefer to eat there. Its just 1 km to Dinan centre and you can drive in and park for free in Place Duguesclin after 1900. There are 89 restaurants in this town! If you want one near the hotel we found Le Marmite just opposite to be very good ( see separate review) The staff at Hoteliere Duguesclin were unfailingly polite, helpful and charming and I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a laid back and friendly base for a stay in Dinan..

Room Tip: We booked the Junior Suites and these are adequate for 2 people. Most of our group found themselves...

Modern and functional high ceiling rooms. It's in a very quiet location.
We loved the swimming pool which I used completely by myself. The communal areas are swish and rather stylish leather sofas and marble floors.

Soraya, on reception spoke good English and welcomed us to the superior suite which was a little aparthotel. Rooms are generously proportioned, with a nice bathroom. The mini kitchen was idea and meant we did not need to book breakfast as there is a large supermarket close by for croissant and we could make coffee etc .

It was a 10 minute walk in to the old town which was no hardship in the sunshine. I prefer this modern location and to sightsee separately.

I would book again especially with the low costs of 96 euros for 2 nights (sleeps 4). All towels and bedding and small bathroom toiletries were supplied. Free car parking is a big bonus.

Nice stay!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, there are some great features and some poor features. First the good;

Plenty of parking, spacious rooms, swimming pool and an externally run friendly bar/restaurant on site. The bed was not that comfortable however our daughter slept on the sofa bed which was fitted with a lovely memory foam matress, we should have swapped with her!!! The bathroom is good and the small kitchen & dining area makes the apartments feel very ample. Because the hotel is on the outskirts of town it is nice and quiet with zero traffic noise.

Now the not so good. It is at least a 10 minute walk to get to the main part of Dinan, this is fine if you want to walk off a meal however if it rains you would probably need to swap the vin rouge for the car keys and drive in. When we checked in the lady on reception asked if we would like breakfast during our stay which we did, therefore the following morning everything was fine. On the following morning we turned up for breakfast and were told that we weren't booked in!!! Apparently you have to tell them every day, this was very bizarre and never before have I had to notify any hotel on a daily basis. The rooms do not feature air conditioning which really should be standard in this day and age, but as the rooms feature high ceilings it didn't get too warm.

Overall the there was nothing bad enough to stop me using this hotel again as the price was sensible and I dont mind the walk to town. Certainly worth considering for any short stay in Dinan.

We booked through booking.com and had the money taken straight away, which wasn't a problem but at the hotel we spent nothing at all, we used the wifi which we were told was free then on return to the UK noticed on our bank statement 3.60 Euros had been taken £0.99 foreign transaction fee. I emailed the hotel to explain but got no reply. I can't be bothered to pursue it legally as the amount is so low but I regard this as theft!
As for the hotel itself the room was clean but is very plain, nothing on the walls, no carpeting just this lino type stuff on the floor.

Hello,

Thank you for taking time to review your stay.
We noticed that when you left our Hotel, you did not pay the local tax, which is requested by the city. So we had to debit your credit card, which is asked at your arrival especially for extras or specific expenses.
The Hotel Manager sent you an email on June 13th but is still waiting for your answer on the June 25th.
Maybe you can check again your emails or even your spam folder?

We are very sorry for those misunderstandings and hope to fix it very quickly.
We hope you enjoyed your stay in Dinan and around.

Regards.

Turned up to check in at 2pm. No one at reception and was locked. Went to restaurant next door to ask re checking in, they were closing. Went next door to another hotel attached to our one and they didn't know procedure for the residency! So went back to the reception and the opening times were between 4-7pm. We drove around for a bit then went back to check in a 4pm. The room was excellent and it is self catering so nothing provided, not even towels so as long as you know it is just a flat with the exception of plates, cups, glasses etc there is no coffee, tea facilities, towels then you are fine. You can rent towels from reception. The pool is outside but you have a code to get in and you have to go there dressed and then dress before you leave so we didn't use it as it would have been too cold. The location isn't great if you have kids as it is a good 15-20 minute walk to the centre of Dinan and we did it everyday which was tiring on our 5 year old. Overall experience is it does what it says on the tin and the staff are very helpful. Apartment was very spacious and very clean, once we had adapted to it no being a hotel it was fine. Main gripe was the attitude of the people in the businesses round about I.e. the restaurant and the hotel. Not attached to the apartments but they were very much less than helpful. Staff in the apartments were great when they were there. Now I know what to expect I would actually go back again.
