This charming hotel was made of two building combined into one with circuitous passageway6 and delightful rooms. The breakfast was quite good and served in a sort of foyer downstairs. The location is just outside the gate of this ancient walled city and very convenient for sightseeing access to the battlements and to very nice restaurants particularly those serving mussels which are grown and harvested nearby. We would certainly return there if we were to go to Dinan again.

We really liked our stay here. It's a simple hotel. We had a good sized room with a large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom (unlike some of the after thoughts/add ons) you get in some small hotels. Breakfast was a little boring but overall It exceeded our expectations and we thought it was excellent value for money. The owners are very kind and helpful. We'd definitely go back if we went to Dinan.

The family, 2 adult and 2 kids 12-14, stayed at Hotel de la Saint-Malo for just one night in june. We got the family room at top of the building and had to climb a little steep flight of stairs up to the roof. That was not a problem for us... but a little struggle with big bags.
The hotel was basic but very nice and most importantly extremely clean. The location was good just outside the main entrance to beautiful Dinan, which is an old town in France that is not to be missed.
The owners were very helpful, gave us map to the town, told us about good restaurants and in the morning they supplied a good french breakfast with wonderful home made jams.
The only negative thing was the television whereas we couldn't get other picture than snow :o) ... but it didn't hurt since the teenagers could both draw and read instead.

Arrived in Dinan late afternoon and got lost driving around the one way streets in the old town. Finally ended up here, and what a relief. Welcomed, and offered secure parking for our classic car. Room was clean and comfortable, overlooking the garden so no street noise. Easy access on foot in and out of the old town (and what a fabulous town it is).

No English tv channels and very French breakfast (as described previously), but the hotel is in France after all!

This is more like a B&B than a hotel: it does not do evening meals. The two most positive features and its outstanding cleanliness and its wonderful location: just 100 yards from the Porte de Saint Malo one of the entrances to the very attractive walled city of Dinan. Its owners are very attentive ( some might consider them a little over attentive). The room we had was very nice and of a very good size but it was an attic room so headroom was restricted. Breakfasts are not outstanding: they consist of half a baguette per person; two pastries (one that tastes like paper); a nice cake and a selection of beverages from tea, coffee, hot water, hot chocolate and orange juice. There is no fresh fruit (some that comes from a can is available), meat or eggs. The only cereal on offer during our stay was cornflakes which tasted like paper. Parking is mainly on the street nearby which is free. Overall it is not a bad place to spend a night or two since it is within easy walking distance of most of Dinan’s restaurants. The proprietors should make a better effort for breakfast though.

The hotel is a Breton building that has been completely and beautifully restored. My daughter and I stayed in one of the garden rooms that had a French door opening onto one patio and a French window opening to another. Breezy and cool. The location of the hotel is perfect being in a very quiet residential neighborhood only a 2 to 3 minute walk to the city walls. Dinan itself was a hit with my 14 yo daughter, who called it "cottage stone."
