“Beautiful House in the centre of Dinan”
Reviewed 29 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The house was large enough to be a great base for a long weekend for 8 adults. There is enough space to all sit down in the kitchen and the living area. It is perfectly located to a bakery for the mornings, activities on the river and the main town. The house is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need including hairdryers. The wifi was great and there was plenty of hot water whenever we required it.

“Fabulous house!”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We (granny and grandpa, their two daughters, and one toddler) stayed for a week in early July. The house was fantastic: beatifully furnished; spotlessly clean; very thoughtfully and generously equipped throughout with everything you could need and more besides. Delightful terraced garden. Superb central location for exploring Dinan. Parking had the potential to be tricky at peak times, as you would expect given the location, but not a big issue as the car wasn't much used once we were there. The Gite owner was brilliant at responding very promptly and helpfully to resolve an issue with the travel cot.

“Awesome stay!”

We stayed with our family (booked by Breta) in the house for a week - what a lovely stay we had. Really clean and we had absolutely everything we needed.

Kitchen - The kitchen is fully equiped and everything you need can be found. Any cooks dream to cook in such a lovely kitchen. The hob is gas and the oven electric. A lovely large table in the kitchen allows for family to enjoy a large dinner. Really couldn't fault it.

Our Bedroom - We stayed on the second floor bedroom. The bed was ok - a steel framed bed with quite a thin matress. The room was warm and quite large and the bed was a double bed.

The main bedroom and others - The main bedroom is lovely. It opens onto a private garden which is beautifully kept. The other two bedrooms upstairs have single beds. All linen is provided and very clean. Would have been nice to have the beds made when we arrived as a weary traveller doesnt want to have to make up a bed when they reach their destination. One towel is provided for each traveller - I do think this should have been two towels as a week is a long time to reuse one towel.

Living room - the living room is lovely with a dining table and sitting area. The tv has all the necessary channels and a good sound system.

Outside sitting area - a lovely outside sitting area with table and chairs is provided. Really stunning little spot to eat dinner on a warm night.

Our only issue with the house was the very thin floors. If someone moved around in the upstairs bedroom the noise travelled through the floor. There is almost no privacy in the rooms due to this however the house is extremely old and Im not sure this problem could be solved.

We so enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

Thanks for the review. We always ask the laundry people to leave 2 towels per person, so don't know what happened to your other towel!

“Quaint and everything to offer”
Reviewed 7 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We spent a week here with our family of 7 adults in this incredibly quaint ancient authentic home. We were blown off our feet by this dwelling, located close to Le Rance River and down the hill from the old town on a narrow cobbled alley. Home to home with nothing lacking. Spacious rooms and a family kitchen with all you could every wish for. First class appliances and all the home comforts. Fantastic outside terraces to enjoy summer. It is a steep five minute walk to the old town but only a minute from the River. If you are visiting Dinan with your family this is the spot!

“Fell in love with the house and Dinan!”
Reviewed 2 April 2016 for a stay in October 2015

We spent the month of October 2015 at this house. It was perfect! Clean, well maintained, with many amenities. We particularly loved cooking in the kitchen which was well stocked. The Port of Dinan was just steps away, wonderful bakery (fresh baguette every morning still warm from the oven!) and marvelous restaurants. It's a steep climb to Dinan's historic center but well worth the effort. The weekly market provided many ingredients for our cooking. We have never had such tasty artichokes! The location was great as a home base to see Brittany and Normandy. Philip was very responsive and wonderful to deal with.

When our month was over, we did not want to leave...we definitely hope to go back and stay at this lovely place again.

“Fantastic house and location”
Reviewed 6 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We have been staying with friends in house rentals for years and this was our favourite house so far. The house was very spacious and the two main double bedrooms are huge. The kitchen is well equipped. The house is at the bottom of a steep cobbled street so be prepared for a hike to the town, but it is enjoyable as all the houses are literally the most photographed houses in Dinan. The town Christmas lights were spectacular.
Being near the port is also a bonus with a great bakery a few doors away. The log fire was so lovely once we found out where to buy the wood and made this house even cosier.
Definitely home from home and my French husband did not want to leave....definitely a cosy house and I would definitely return.

“Beautiful house full of character in a perfect location close to the port.”

The house felt like home the moment we opened the door and stepped into the traditionally furnished front room. It was very spacious and comfortably slept eight people in four very spacious well furnished bedrooms. The kitchen was also spacious and really well equipped with all the crockery and utensils you could wish for. A nice touch was having a range of condiments, herbs, spices and store cupboard essentials there, so you didn't have to buy everything from scratch. We loved our stay in this wonderful historic house and really appreciated the terraced garden where we relaxed and enjoyed most of our meals. Perfectly located in a little cobbled street, we were in easy reach of the port downhill and the town uphill. Also close by is the excellent restaurant L'Atelier Gourmand at the bottom of the street on the old bridge where we spent a lovely evening.
A gem of a place. We will definitely be back!
