Despite Oliver's restaurant being rated best in Dinard, we were surprised and delighted with the welcome, the service and the quality of the food. The waiter(French/Pinoy) looked after us in a most pleasant and informative manner. As each course arrived we were delighted with the inventive flavour combinations and quality of the preparation. Oliver watched hrough the kitchen window to see our reaction to his creations. We were happy to smile back at him.
A delightful way to spend my birthday a long way from home.

I was travelling on my own and they found me a small table. The food was spot on and service very good...it was a tad busy but even so the waiting was minimal . The chef was great fun and seemed to be able to hear any comments one made to his staff.

Our hotel (Royal Emeraude - also outstanding) recommended this small Bistro but unfortunately it was fully booked for our first night so we booked for our second (and last) night and were very impressed. By 8pm the place was full again and the atmosphere was fabulous. It is simple in style but the food and service are outstanding. How the simple kitchen provides such high quality food is extraordinary. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable without being obsequious. The cost (Euros108 for glass of champagne, large beer, carafe of lovely wine, 2 courses each and a shared millefeuille) was very good value for the quality. We were the only non-French visitors and there were well behaved children with families - lovely. Easily one of our best dining experiences.

Tried to book for a Friday but restaurant full so booked for Saturday instead. We were given a table a few feet from, and directly in line with the front door and with people queuing up to get in the door was frequently open onto the road. In short not a pleasant place to sit. I spilled my drink whilst the waitress was pouring a glass of wine for my wife. The waitress was quick to clear up but left the wine bottle she was pouring on the table with a little bit of wine in my wife's glass. My wife didn't want to drink the wine as it was only a partially poured so we waited until the waitress passed and pointed out the bottle left on the table. She took the bottle away without finishing pouring the wine. No wanting to make a fuss we accepted the dribble of wine initially poured. A fish curry was nice and a fillet steak also good. However the vegetables were almost cold. Children are offered small versions of the menu (good) at a good price. A lemon tart was over-sweet which surprised us as we had read that the chef is renowned for his desserts.
In short we hated the table, found the service friendly rather than efficient and thought the food would have been better than it was. Perhaps we were just unlucky but we preferred the petit resto du port nearby, if only because it was less up itself.
