Established hotel in centre of town with a Breton feel. Art works on dining room wall. Madame very nice lady and remembered my (very bad French) telephone booking. This was Sunday lunchtime and nicely bustling with locals. Took two white wines as aperitifs which were both recommended on a flyer. So nice to find something new and both distinctive. One assiette de fruit de Mer - half a crab, langoustines, gambas, cockles and mussles. Could have had oysters in it but have an allergy. The other starter was a scallop gratin. Sometimes coquilles St Jaques can be a bit boring but this was right up my street and I weasled the recipe from madame. Scallops in gratin dish, cream mixed with egg, some cheese and blasted in the oven. Mains: duck with stilton sauce. Fillet of beef with a chunk of bone marrow with teaspoon provided to scoop the marrow out. Dessert: café Gourmand - mini cream brulee, piece of Far Breton, piece of real (Russian) cheesecake. Little coffee of course.
It was a very reasonable price for a good meal and I have the impression the standard will be good whatever you chose.More
