The terrace of this hotel restaurant is perfectly located to enjoy one of the most lively areas of the walled city. While the service was a bit slow to begin with, once we mentioned it to the Maitre D', he more than make up for it after that. The food was great, we tried the Chateaubriand, bets piece of meat we've had in France. The Andouille sausage was quite good as well (for an Andouille sausage), the Niçoise salad was quite good as well and so was the presaged lamb carre.

To close it all, the creme bule and strawberry tart where to die for. Great wine selection as well. Highly recommended.

We first sat on the front terrace for a drink in one of the most charming settings. The restaurant is located in a sun lighted square and it also has sunbeds in front. It makes it the perfect place to enjoy the sun and a glass of kir breton.

We then moved to the outside terrace for lunch feeling that we don't want to leave just yet. The restaurant has some choice of menus. We went for menus and the price was reasonable.
The food was very good and the service as well. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Strongly recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in two rooms between two couples. The hotel itself was ok however the room was not as our usual standard, the bed was two singles pushed together and the sheets felt as if they were washed in cement mix. On the contrary however the toilet/shower was very good. St Malo itself was beautiful, something for everyone shops bars beaches and scenery.

We live in the Cote d'Armor and enjoy St. Malo. My birthday is in January- how unfortunate- and we decided to go to Malo because it might have restaurants open at this dead end of the season and also- we wanted the sea. We knew the hotel had a terrace resto, so decided to try it. The resto at ground floor is charmingly old French and was medium busy. We were taken in a lift to the 5th. floor by staff- and into a chic, modern, light, airy room, with super views of sea/islands/rooftops/the ornate Mairie etc. Chairs upholstered in broad-striped fabric, excellent glasses and cutlery (for aficionados Schott & Villeroy/Boch) and a smiling waitress. Free glass of fizz whilst we chose from the menu; delicious warm "soup" for amuse-bouches; 2 different rolls and butter each. Good start!
The menu is mainly fish for the main courses, but there was foie gras as a starter. I won't dwell too much on the different flavours/components of the courses except to say that EVERYTHING was superb; my husband had 5 large scallops, I had fillet of red barbet for mains- with sundry sauces/vegetables treated differently etc., as an example. Each course was a picture BUT also a tasting experience, not just pretty. We had an excellent bottle of Vire Classe which was 29 euros- good value at this level.
Unfortunately, we misunderstood the menu; there is a 29 euros one possible but this is indicated by a fancy 5 symbol, which we didn't realise meant that the choice was one of the ones included in that price, so our bill was higher than we expected...the waitress explained when we queried and was "tres desolee" that we'd boobed.
We shall definitely go again and with local friends. Since we returned, i've read the "bad" reviews.....I can only re-iterate that we are choosy and have eaten out many, many times and have seldom found better cooking. DON'T GO in July/August- but then, so many restaurants are the same in those fraught months, it's better to stay away if possible!! Today, there was a table of 9 French, probably an "office" do, plus 3 other Frenchmen, all of whom ate everything with no complaints. Don't come if you want huge portions and standard, if good, tastes or a steak!!
