“Good Location”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Stayed 2 nights in July. The room was small - your average "Norte Americano" would probably be demanding a refund - but this was more than compensated for by the view over the beach and the wonderful sunset at 10pm !!. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom more than adequate. Despite being on the beachfront there was no excessive noise. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good selection for the buffet breakfast although seating and tables were in high demand at the time I decided to eat as a coachload of German tourists had descended on the dining room a couple of minutes before me. Easy walk along promenade to the old town (10 mins) and to ferry terminal (15mins).
Only complaint I have - and this goes for all Ibis Hotels - is the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

I was booked in to this hotel by a third party when taking part in a literary festival in St Malo and it was entirely satisfactory. The three star hotel has an attractive, traditional late C19 exterior. The interior is fairly basic, though not uncomfortable - my ground floor room looked out towards a wall but sea-facing rooms must have truly wonderful views: straight out over the road to pristine sands which stretch seemingly forever; sunset is extraordinarily beautiful.
No frills here-no shower cap, only only a pump action dispenser for shampoo/shower gel. Snacks, obtainable in the small dining room, were pretty dire, but breakfast surprisingly (after the floppy, greasy croque monsieur the night before!) good. It's ten minutes walk into the fine walled old town, but the beach makes it worth it.

Room Tip: Sea-facing would make a big difference to one's enjoyment here.

A standard budget hotel, ideal location on the seafront and within walking distance of town tourist areas, which are plentiful. We stayed for a single night at the end of our holiday. Staff are welcoming and friendly and most speak a variety of languages. Room is small but clean and comfortable. My only issue was the excessive car parking charge of 15 euros for one night in their car park situated at the rear of this hotel! There is on street parking I suppose, but one of the reasons I chose this hotel was for the car park! Thus I rate this hotel average at best as the charge would put most visitors off! Hence the "but" in the title!

Once you have stayed in several Ibis hotels, it is difficult to come up with an original review title. My room was at the back, but had the advantage of size both in overall area and in the shower room. The only noise was from the gulls. As ever the bed was comfortable and the fittings, etc. perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly and professional and the breakfast had all the usual Ibis features, plus, to mark the World Cup, some tropical fruit juices. If you arrive from the railway station, you could catch a bus to Sillion but stop, the one before the St Vincent terminus. If walking to the ferry terminal with a rolling suitcase, stick to the pavement on the hotel side of the road rather than negotiate the unevn surface of the path by the sea wall. There is a pleasant looking Italian restaurant next door, if you want to avoid too many other tourists and a bar mainly serving local residents round the corner. If you have not stayed in St Malo before, ask for a room at the front to experience the view at different levels of the tide.

The hotel is on the sea front with free parking immediately outside. Comfortable beds and we had sea views so you can just sit and watch the tide ebb and flow. Excellent breakfasts.

The old town is about 5-10 minutes walk away and you can walk along the sand to it when the tide is out
