Concierge lacked knowledge, non of the staff understood what Gluten free was, and overall the service was pretty average. The room was totally unremarkable and lacked the fittings of a 5 star hotel. It felt that the staff were just drafted in to cope with the busy summer season. We had just arrived at this hotel from a 4 star Barriere chain hotel in Deauville, and overall I would not rate the Le grand hotel des Thermes even to the same level as the 4 star Barriere hotel. There was also no evening turndown service.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for you comment. We are surprised by your remark on the Gluten Free food, as we do have some gluten free meals served every day in both our restaurants.
I will make sure your remarks will be taken into accounts.
We hope we will have the pleasure to receive you again.
Kind regards
Laurence

Alway have a great stay at this beautiful hotel. Everything is at hand.
Great reception as you arrive. Rooms have everything you need. Restaurants offer, diet, traditional, and gourmet food. View brilliant. And also a fabulous spa, and treatments with seawater, beauty and hairdresser salon. Everything x

Le Grand Hotel des Thermes is a very old property, which is advertised as a 5-star hotel, but guests considering this hotel must know this is not even a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very run down and dirty. The carpets smell bad, the showers either don't work or are broken, the food is bad which is rare and difficult in France. It's deceiving to advertise this as 5 star hotel, the only thing 5 star is the price which is very high for what they offer. Please be aware that the only good thing you will experience is the sea view, other than that you will be much better off in another hotel.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel in Saint Malo, do not choose this hotel

Dear Mayo,
We would try to find solutions if your comment corresponded to a real customer experience. Unfortunately, on one side, there is one single opinion profile, with calumnious comments, talking about “guests” you are not. Fortunately, on the other side, our 5-star-hotel classification was renewed last year, our real guest posts lovely comments about our great hotel, spacious and cleaned rooms, great food in our 3 restaurants and warming service. We feel very sorry about what brought you to write such a bad comment about us and sorry for our 400 colleagues who gives their best every day to satisfy our guests and make them enjoying their stay in Saint-Malo.

Great location with excellent sea view.Quite a big hotel with zig-zag corridor to the room.Gastronomical food with great service but a bit expensive. Key staff speak English..so you have to call every time the staff who speak English...The restaurant Cap Horn is quite spacious..

Spent three nights mid-week in July with two kids. We used the pool and beach but not the spa facilities. Ate dinner twice at the Cap Horn restaurant and several times at the outdoor lunch spot.

We had a fantastic time. English wasn’t universally spoken, and the lunch menu was only in French, but we found it very manageable. All of the staff were super friendly. It was nice that they had a kids menu in the restaurants and that the kids felt welcome. Our kids spent hours playing in the waves and building sand castles on the beach. The salt water pool was large and warm.

I’ve had beach vacations in 10+ countries, but this was the first in France, so its hard to compare. Totally different than a resort in Hawaii. It felt French.

Thank you for your kind words regarding your family stay last month. We really appreciate your feedback.

Delighted you were so pleased with our sea water pool experience.
We have English menu in all of our three restaurant. I am sorry you didn't get one from our friendly staff.
Pleased to learn you felt french which is the aim of travelling and you had fun with your family.
Again thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to have you back soon on a return visit to Saint-Malo, France.

Best Regards,
