We had travelled on the overnight from Munich and the train was an hour late getting in to Paris as a consequence we missed our connection to St Malo. We were able to get the next train at no extra cost but unbeknown to us there had been an accident the night before on the line and the train had to go the long way. We eventually got to our hotel and what a pleasant surprise. It was in the old town which is absolutely delightful and the room was quite large and also the bathroom was large. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. There were plenty of restaurants close by and lovely beaches. It is a walled town and we walked around the wall and every corner we turned the views were spectacular. We also went on a ferry to Jersey in the Channel Islands. Would definitely return and stay at this hotel

Hotel du Louvre was a very comfortable and friendly place to stay in St Malo - very well situated to experience the city life. The hotel staff were very helpful with assistance for wifi connections. Rooms were a good size with comfortable beds.

We recently stayed two nights at the du Louvre in Saint Malo. Location is great inside the city walls but the hotel is shabby, or at least our room was. The walls have not been painted in a decade and the website makes the rooms appear huge when they are very small. I'm not complaining about a small room I am complaining because I felt deceived. There are cafes and restaurants right beside and across from the hotel so there is noise. Closing the windows will block most of it. Saint Malo is a lovely town, especially inside the walls of the historic section where the hotel is located. Lots of great dining options. For breakfast you can venture outside the hotel, turn right and at the top of the steps you will find a nice cafe. Mont Saint Michel is about a 40 minute drive.

Centrally placed in St Malo within easy walking distance of Ferry Terminal which makes it ideal for leaving the car at home.
Friendly reception manned 24 hrs. Good clean bedroom.
Good variety of food for breakfast with ample space in breakfast room.
Only down side was that chambermaids tended to deliberately block the lift which, as there are six floors, is somewhat inconvenient to say the least.
Despite this, would happily use it again.

We stayed 4 nights to explore St Malo and the surrounding areas ie places like Mont St Michel. Hotel location, inside the city walls, was very good for both and offered, at an additional charge, a very good breakfast. Parking is extra but not far away. Staff was friendly and helpful. The free wifi worked well although the access codes had to be renewed each day from reception--an unnecessary inconvenience if one is staying several days. Close to excellent restaurants and cafes. We would stay here again.

Pros: staff speaks english and is very friedly, good breakfast, within the city walls of St. Malo, reasonable price, clean and very quiet, interesting view of the alley and of the front building' rooftops (if your room is on the higher floors).

Cons: the lift is quite small (I mean really small) and old, if in one hand it is quite charming (i loved it), in the other it might be a problem if you are a little claustrophobic or is carrying oversized luggage. St. Malo city within the old walls is a must-see place, a bedroom with sea view would be amazing.

Tip: on the high season it might be difficult to find a spot to park on the parking lot outside the walls, hotel parking area is small. I wouldn't say it is a con, it's more a caracteristic of the old city of St. Malo (check it on Google Street View for a better understanding).

Overall: very good hotel for a romantic weekend in France.
