My wife and I are a young couple and we just adore St. Malo. Both last year an this year we stayed at Nouveau Monde, for about one week each time. Will stay there again next time.

The location is terrific: right on the beach, on Chaussee de Sillon, with spectacular views of Fort National. Ten minutes away from downtown (Intra Muros) and 15 minutes away from the TGV station.

Bus to Cancale stops right in front of the hotel. (Bus No. 8)

We've seen three types of room: the premium (last year), standard double, and standard single this year. Each were equally nice and clean, with excellent new furnishings. We got the single for my dad, who joined us for a few days at the beginning of our trip. He loved it.

Staff were always very courteous and helpful. Included breakfast came in very handy and consisted of an excellent buffet of extensive cheese, meat, viennoiserie, and drinks selections. Fresh fruit and cooked items (eggs, sausages, beans).

South side is nice and quiet and faces away from the sea. North side faces the beach and has hands down the best views you can hope for.

Super location on the waterfront at Saint Malo. Easy and enjoyable walk to the old city. Sea-view rooms are first class. Staff are friendly and professional. Breakfasts definitely up to the mark, although the bacon was thin and fatty.

Only complaint though, and one that is common to many hotels, is the lack of a second rack for suitcases. Travelling couples often have a suitcase each. it's not that difficult to figure that one of them might not like living out of a suitcase on the floor. When we asked for an additional rack...there wasn't one to be found. Not really what you'd expect from such a classy, and not inexpensive establishment. Otherwise, an excellent stay.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get a sea-view room!

This is a new hotel and only two years old. We stayed here on a bus tour and it was an excellent stay. A genuine 4-5 star hotel

The Staff:

Excellent service.

Our Room:
We had room 205 Which had a balcony. We had a separate bathroom and toilet which was a bonus. the king size bed was very comfortable, tv was good and the air con worked well . Quality toiletries are provided and there were plenty of towels . The room was a good size with a table and two chairs.

Breakfast:

High quality with plenty of hot and cold food including sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, cold meats and a nice selection of breads, pancakes, boiled eggs . Good coffee and tea. Good choice of breakfast cereals.

Its around 150 euro per night to stay here (starting price) and I would say good value for the quality of the accommodation you will get.

Would I stay again? Most certainly.

No negatives to report about this place and a most enjoyable stay. Highly Recommended.

The hotel is on the beach area and only 10 -15 easy walk to the walled city area.
Staff were excellent throughout our stay.

The first room we were shown was very close to the street noise on the 2nd floor. When I called and mentioned we had requested a quiet room, we were given the option of moving to the top floor, to a much larger room for 20 Euros extra a night. We did move, and it was a very spacious room with both a deck and a balcony. The beds were comfortable, and the room and bathroom were roomy and well-equipped. Nicholas was helpful, and his English was good (not everyone who works there is proficient in English). It's about a 20 minute walk to the old town and the ramparts. It's nicely situated to explore Saint-Malo and surrounding towns like Dinard and Dinan. We had a wonderful walk on the beach during their amazing low tide, and it was a memorable sight and experience, truly unusual.

Our room was the Premium Double Sea View. It was spacious and well appointed. Views from the room were amazing and only the cool breeze stopped us from enjoying the small balcony. Our only issue was the very small toilet that reeked of cigarette smoke. We do understand that the Hotel cannot often prevent guests from smoking in rooms so we do not judge on that basis. A leaking coffee maker was very quickly dealt with. We had fabulous cocktails in the bar. Breakfast catered for all tastes. The professional attitude of all staff helped to make our stay very enjoyable. Close proximity to the walled city was definitely a reason to book the hotel originally.

Room Tip: Sea view is a major selling point
