“make sure you know the tides”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

the tide comes in extremely quickly as in 15 minutes quickly. My mother and I were almost stranded, had to wade through knee deep water on the stone causeway. 3 people were stranded and had to be rescued by boat.

“Makes for an interesting interlude if you fancy a walk on the beach”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

The Fort du Petit Be is one of the prominent landmarks on the St Malo beachfront skyline.

On a quiet sunny afternoon we waited for the waters to recede back so that we could visit the fort.

It's a short walk across the beach, then up a rock outcrop where you pay a few Euro's for a guided tour. The guides a youngish teenagers who do an amazing job of providing historical soundbites in various languages as they show your round the various rooms and what they were used for.

This isn't a long visit, probably less than an hour, but it provides some amazing views back to the mainland and is a great way to use an hour if you just need a stop gap between returning from an afternoon out, then going out for dinner. Very enjoyable.

Tips: You will be walking where the sea goes out, wear shoes with good grips and choose your path carefully!!
