“Hidden gem in Beaune”
Reviewed 15 June 2012

Just a doorway leading down stairs. If my friend did not know what lay beyond we would have walked by. The aroma that greeted us was delicious . We entered a beautiful underground cave, without the mouldy ceiling. Set menus were 22, 26, 29,39€, we tried 3 different menus and everyone was very pleased. Wine list was good value and reasonably priced. We walked in at 8 pm, with no reservation. The hidden location makes them less busy, not the great food.
Definitely a repeat here!

“Great”
Reviewed 8 June 2012

Great food, great wine, great atmosphere! Small place with stone walls in the basement of an ancien building downtown. Food is authentic, typical and just excellent. Iy's better to make a reservation.... or you might stay outside...

“Lovely setting, great food”
Reviewed 7 June 2012

We stopped in Beaune on our (partner and I) travelling through France and were fortunate enough to have made an evening reservation at this lovely place.

The restaurant is in the centre of Beaune and is underground in former wine cellars giving an unusual and fitting environment.

We ordered from the set menu of 26 euros which appeared to be excellent value for 4 courses of local dishes including snails and eggs poached in red wine.

Whilst we were sipping a delicious glass of Cremant, the chef (Robert) came to our table and wished us good evening which was an excellent touch.

The food was all delicious and was well accompanied by a bottle of local wine recommended to us by the friendly staff.

Great food, excellent value, attentive service - definitely worth visiting this lovely Beaune restaurant!

“Nipper and Hoop”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

Whilst in Beaune, our host insisted that she booked us into L'incontournable. This was probably the finest piece of advice we received in France!
This was to be the first of three evening meals that we enjoyed in this fantastic restaurant.
Every evening we ticked of most of the offerings available on the menu, and i am pleased to say that not once were we disappointed.
Our expectations were always exceeded.
The Burgundian menu was well balanced, superbly prepared, executed perfectly and well presented on the plate.
The wine list complements the menu perfectly and the front end service staff are terrific.

“Superbe!”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

I would never have found this place if a very nice shopowner hadn't recommended it. It's off a side street in the old city down some stairs, around a corner and through a very low door. The room is an arched cellar (like Caveau des Arches but smaller). The foie gras was the best I had in Beaune.
