Just passing by Beaune on our way to Paris. We entered this place and before any further greeting we were told kids have to order a meal too...to which i replied: "well....yes, we were planning to order one". we sat down a little and we found the atmosphere was rather cold so we left to spend our money elsewhere. we were quite in a rush and it was late so we just went to the kebab place just in front in fact, with very friendly owners, which made up for the first encounter...

A great lunch experience... a menu quirky enough to be interesting and a well thought through selection of wines, which can be an issue in Beaune, where overpriced and under-delivering bottles are the norm. Owner operated, in the kitchen as well as front of house, you feel for once as if you're in with the locals... which you are.

We were referred to this restaurant by a gourmand friend and we were not disappointed!
Having just arrived in Bourgogne on a Friday night, we decided to choose the dégustation menu, Promenade en Bourgogne, which consists of 5 specialties from the area: cheese buscuit, snails in vegetable broth, boeuf bourguignon, cheese canapé and a fruit sorbet. All came in portions that I would define perfect for a tasting menu and every single course was tasty and balanced. My favourite were the snails: so delicate but flavorsome thanks to the little herbs in the broth!
My boyfriend tasted some wines by the glass and he was happy with them and found the prices honest.

Next to Le Benaton this was the best meal we had in Beaune. Tiny place...husband serves you...wife cooks. Incredibly creative and delicious food. Go for lunch and enjoy incredible food in a very casual atmosphere.

After all the escargots, oeufs en meurette, boeuf bourguignonne and more this food is just what you need. We started with a carpaccio of beetroot with a goatcheese mousse, pintade with a herb sauce and very subtle vegetables, followed by fresh poached fruit in a light wine reduction and a little homemade spiced icecream. Moreover you van order the best burgundys like gevrey chambertin and meursault by the glass for a very reasonable price. We only have one remark: we have seen better bread in france.
For us this was the best restaurant in burgundy!
