“A collection of art from everywhere”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

The art at this museum was bought from other parts of the world and brought to Beaune. However, a local artist who is represented at the museum is Ziem. He had some lovely paintings of Venice.

“Under rated and empty”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

Huge collection of Ziem works (interesting to see one artist develop his art) Not many visitors and some other interesting pieces - remarkable number of museums for a small town!

“Depressing array of mainly mediocre work”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

If you are looking for the Musee des Beaux-Arts the first challenge is finding the entrance - not signed at all, and literally just a blank door in the wall inside a newly built shopping centre. Inside uninterested staff take you money and leave you to get on with it. If I didn't speak French, I would have got nothing out of this visit as there was no English interpretation. Most of the work is run-of-the mill - just a couple of interesting portraits - but without more effort on the part of the museum, frankly I would save your money and skip the visit entirely.

“Worth the visit”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

This is a small Arts Museum but it is well worth seeing. There are Flemish & Dutch paintings of the 16th & 17th century but we especially appreciated seeing works of painters we didn't know : Hippolyte Michaud "Femme au ruban bleu"; Jérome Paupion "Grand-mère"; Edouard Darviot "Intérieur Arabe" and the sculpture of Lot's wife, etc. You can buy a combined ticket for the Musée du Vin if you have the time to visit both attractions.

“Sounds Better Than It Is”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

Not much art here and not displayed in an interesting way. It looks like a temporary exhibit. If we had not purchased a combo ticket, it would have been a waste of time.
