We stayed here overnight on our way from Geneva, Switzerland to Paris and it took us back 800 years or so. A hotel in an abbey is something that is not offered every day and we enjoyed it very much. Our room was not large, but it had everything we needed, including WIFI. It was difficult getting our luggage up the winding stone staircase, but the staff were extremely helpful. We had a wonderful breakfast in the restaurant which was a tad on the expensive side. This hotel is a problem if you have a car. It took us awhile to find it with one way streets and then I had to drive several blocks to a safely locked garage and walk back to the hotel. The owners ended up not charging me for the garage and that was generous. This was a different and memorable stay for us -- maybe not for all tastes, however.

We spent a week in france this week and Beaune was a perfect base to travel upper and lower burgandy, the town it's self of Beaune is just beautiful, driving down the cobbled streets to find this hidden gem! The lovely lady at reception was very helpful, showed us everything to do whist staying and all the hidden treasures, room was cosy but we loved every minute! This is a must in burgandy!

I don't care where you live, but you probably DON'T live in a 12th century abbey! This is truly a special place and the staff are wonderful - very invested in this, their hotel, and the comfort of their clients. Beaune is beautiful - we rented bicycles to go up into the vineyards, which was fantastic and so easy. I normally don't care ALL that much about the hotel as long as it is clean and comfortable - this is WAY more than that. This hotel makes coming back to the hotel to relax, have breakfast, whatever, part of the vacation experience. Highly recommend it - have breakfast here, too, at least once.

Room Tip: I think if you ask for the best available room, they will give it to you. I don't know what a b...

Set in a small street in the heart of Beaune in Burgundy is this exceptionally stylish and quirky hotel. It has 12 lovely and individual modern rooms which marry exceptionally well with the 12th century features. Thought, effort, love and a lot of money have been poured into this establishment and the result is palpable.

The staff are a credit to the French hotel industry, unlike many other staff in bigger corporate hotels. Bruno is the owner and you sense the passion and love he has put into creating this extraordinary hotel. His English is simply impeccable and put my third division French to shame. We stayed one night, but could have stayed many. Is it expensive? Some say it is, in my opinion you get what you pay for and in my mind very fairly priced. The food looks stunning, just reading the menu made our mouths water, but we had booked at The Gourmandin in Place Carnot which is simply divine. Car parking is close by and free in Republique.

Two words of warning: 1. The entrance is very low, so if you are tall watch your head.
2. The spiral staircase leading to the rooms may hinder some folk getting up and down, but be assured help is always at hand.

Room Tip: All rooms are very different, best to phone and ask.

We stayed for three nights in a small but well appointed room. The hotel is an amazing place all on its own. The owners of the hotel are just lovely and are willing to help with anything at all. The hotel is also in a fabulous location in the centre of Beaune. A wonderful stay!!!

The hotel is built in a an old Abbey and has had to adapt itself to the constraints that involves -getting to our room involved two lots of circular stairs which would have been tough if we had any problems walking or going upstairs.

The rooms ( we had two ) both had a small lobby with a sofa or chairs and the bathroom and steep ( we came down backwards they were so steep) stairs to the bedroom.
Rooms themselves were fine if a bit small.

We ate in the restaurant which again was OK if you dont mind the very restricted ( two choices per course) menu.

The proprietor and his wife were very helpful and both spoke good English.

What was infuriating was there there is free wifi but you could only use it on one device ( it has a username&password). We only discovered this after reception had closed which was annoying. The proprietor is aware of this and it should be mentioned at check in when they give you your login details.

We stayed in this hotel en route to the South of France. The Abbaye was a wonderful atmospheric historic hotel located in the centre of Beaune. We had a small room which was beautifully appointed with a large very comfortable bed and a fabulous modern bathroom. All of the staff were very welcoming and spoke very good English and the manager was exceptionally helpful and accommodating to every request. Breakfast in the hotel was very good and plentiful. We considered our room to be very good value and would certainly stay here again.
