We lunched at the Cheval Noir, and enjoyed it so much that we decided to dine here (same owners.) This one specializes in local dishes and it also was full of local people, a good sign. We had the 39 euro prix fixe dinner that started with a buttery foie gras, then veal followed by four nice cheeses. A completely non PC dinner that would be illegal in California. The dessert, chocolate liegeois, was very rich and too heavy after such a rich and heavy dinner and we both wished we had ordered the raspberry-rhubarb crumble.
I did not care for the faux stone walls that gave the expectation of a cool cave but delivered a stifling and clammy experience that was too hot and low on oxygen. Better ventilation would have made a big difference.
The staff was pleasant and helpful.
