“A great restaurant in a perfect setting, with a great wine list”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

I have visited this restaurant numerous times when in Beaune, and always make sure to eat there when in the area. The food is very good - either tapas-style small plates or a small menu of interesting flavour combinations. The 63-degree egg is a particular favourite, especially in truffle season. The main draw for me though is the extensive wine list with interesting bottles from many of the top names of Burgundy and beyond. The service is brilliant.

“Superb !”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Tapas prepared by a starred Michelin chef (no joke). The fresh pea vichyssoise was heavenly. Most tapas were priced at €10 including tar tines au foie gras. For €12 you get a whole plate of thinly, manually sliced REAL pata negra! The poelee of escargot was €11 and delicious. The wine list is like a Thomas Mann novel (never ending)and totally stupefied me with its extraordinary lat off local wines. The sommelier was worthy of a position at the Savoy with his knowledge and wonderful explanations. An excellent meal for 2 at €150 including champagne and several glass of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet is simply the bargain of all bargains. The atmosphere inside is marvellous. Great concept. I will be back ASAP!!

“Fantastic find”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Great central location, less than 5 mins from where we were staying at Chez les Fatiens. A warm welcome, we sat just inside with a glass of champagne and watched the chef at work, the food was beautifully presented and flavours superb. We had some special dietary requirements which we had mailed in advance and Roland made a real effort to create something for us. A chef who clearly cares about his food, friendly service from the team including his wife, Francoise (as well as her sister who was on a working holiday!). Will definitely be back again.

“Good food but clueless staff”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

There was quite a lot of staff around but nobody seemed to know what they were doing. We had to wait a long time before somebody helped us find a table (we had a booking). We were seated on a sort of lounge corner without a proper table. Then we had to wait a long time before somebody asked what we wanted to drink. When we finally had drinks we ordered 2 plates of charcuterie (cold meats). The first one arrived but after that: nothing. We also had long fiinshed our drink but nobody asked if we would like anything else. After about 1,5 hours and one starter and one drink we decided to leave. There are lots of other places in Beaune which are much more customer friendly.
