“Great atmosphere - lousy coffee”

This is a lovely area to visit, watch the locals with their morning rituals and enjoy life. However the people look at tourists with contempt and any effort on our part to interact with them was ignored - rudely.
This place had a lot of patrons and was hoping for a nice experience, instead the staff were indifferent and the coffee wasn’t great. Only thing that made me smile was the dog sitting with his owner.
Smokers make it also challenging as not many people smoke in Australia so it spoils the experience for us.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly.

Beaune is a a gastronomic heaven and with a plethora of great local wines to choose from should be the perfect place for a night out. Unless it is early January and almost everything is shut! So, Le Grand Cafe would get 5 stars just for being open but deserves them anyway for great food and wine at a very reasonable price.
Place clearly popular with locals and visitors alike which is always a good sign. A few decent beers on tap as well as a range of sensibly priced local wines.
Steak good, cheese selection highly recommended.

Oh dear. A café, on the square on a sunny December lunchtime. Some tables occupied outside, but in December, the interior was likely to be a warmer option. Until we encountered the waitress, who directed us to a table ‘la ba’, (over there..) with a Gallic-rude flick of the outstretched hand, at the rear of the premises. A battered bench and table arrangement, near a door. Which burst open to the cheery sound of the hand-drier. Proximity to the lavatory is an indicator of the worst table in the house, so we spotted another empty one. This was crammed beneath the cast iron spiral staircase, ensuring either neck-discomfort or head injury. The glowering staff continued to engage with those patrons they favoured. Exit, stage left, unpursued by anyone, so I cannot comment further. However, first impressions are often valid and I would be reluctant to add my custom to an establishment with such rude and unpleasant staff, particularly where there are many better places for lunch.

Place in the very center it has a very high price level and lots of visitors, that is whyu the service suffers a bit. However it's nice to get a drink while walking in the Old Town

Don't expect anything too fancy, but the food is good and the beer and wine is reasonably priced. What more could one ask for for $10-$12 Euros for the plat du jour?
