“Beautiful, charming b&b in Beaune”
Reviewed 3 September 2012

Our trusty Lonely Planet guide directed us to this fab b&b in St Romaine, which is driving distance to Beaune in the Burgandy region. The location is perfect for the wine tasting tours in the region. The host Veronique is extremely charming and very accommodating. We travelled with a four month old baby so our trip was somewhat delayed and we ended up arriving well after 10pm but Veronique was very accommodating.

The beauty of this place is that the owner has kept everything simple so the rustic charm of the property takes over. Our room was beautifully decorated with crisp, clean bedding and the breakfast was sublime - just simple fresh breads and baguettes, cheese and the best home made jams.

I would highly recommend this place but make sure you have access to a car if you want to eat out or venture about to Beaune or the chateaus in the area.

Lastly very family friendly, thank you Veronique for everything!

With the help of our trusty Lonely Planet guide, we found this gorgeous B&B in the quiet town of St Romain. We did not have a reservation and luckily Veronique was home (mid afternoon) and showed us the room - modern, clean and beautifully decorated. We thought it was good value and the breakfast was delicious! The home made jams were amazing :) We would definitely recommend this stay. A great location when doing a driving holiday in France! Our Navman initially directed us to a private home but a very friendly local directed us to the correct property :) We had the most amazing honeymoon!

This B&B is located in the quaint little village, of St. Romain, amongst the vineyards. It is a great location, as a home base, to explore the Beaune Region. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The large common area had a selection of English language books and the adjacent terrace were a perfect place to relax with a glass of wine. Our host, Veronique, was friendly and helpful with information on the area. The delicious breakfast was served on a long table, so all the guests could enjoy conversation. If you are traveling to the Burgundy region, this is the perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: There is no bad room.

My husband and I stayed for a weekend in mid-March, when the tiny village of St. Romain is extremely quiet. The owner, Veronique, was pleasant and efficient, though not chatty, and we enjoyed the comfortable room, artfully arranged breakfast table, and common area with a selection of English-language books. One evening, we hiked to the upper village and explored the ruins of a medieval chateau as the sun set over the vineyards, then relaxed over a hearty dinner at the only restaurant in town (Hotel Les Roches), which happens to be quite good. During the days, we enjoyed exploring the surrounding villages and scenic countryside by car. Thanks to Maryse, the owner of the wonderful Les Demoiselles B&B in Ladoix-Serrigny, for recommending Domaine de la Corgette!

Saint-romain is a tiny village in Burgundy so the place is not hard to find. I traded a few emails with the owner, and was reminded each time that check in was only during 5-7pm. However, she neglected to tell me that she only accepts cash or cheque, which made it a bit inconvenient.

The place is beautiful, with the room very well-decorated. We were in the le verger room, very cute heart motif. Very nice!

There is a verandah where you can sit but the mood was ruined a bit by the noisy work going at the winery downstairs. But it is a working winery after all, so it's fair enough. However, they didn't extend the same consideration that it's also a working B&B when they fired up the machinery at 6am. Which is even more hilarious when you notice the long list of house rules includes no showers after 10pm to "maintain the tranquility of the place".

There is only one restaurant in the village, and it's closed Tue and Wed. To go anywhere else by cab, you have to call one out of Beaune. And they start charging from Beaune so it's about 16€ before you go anywhere. So my advice is to hire a car! We also struggled to get a cab to catch our train in the morning, and the owner very kindly offered to give us a lift.

The breakfast is nice - coffee, juice and pastries.

Overall, great little place, just get a car and cash for your stay!

Best possible place for a quite, isolated stay in the region... We were caught a little unprepared by not having a car to move around and depending on internet access for keeping up with business. I wish I was there at any other time to enjoy the complete isolation. The place is as beautiful as a B&B can possibly get. The breakfast was dreamy...

thank you for your lovely advise, I am happy you had a nice stay at domaine corgette ! Iunderstand that it is uncomfortable not to have a car here, we are in an hidden spot, which requires a car or a bike, or very good legs !
I hope your show in Dijon had a lot of success, and I would be delighted to welcome you another time in st romain! cheers, véronique

The B&B is located in a quaint town not far from Beaune. Our room was beautiful and exactly what you would expect for a French B&B. There is a nice patio where we sat outside every night enjoying our own bottle of wine. The owner's English was OK and we were able to adequately communicate. Overall, if you want a quaint B&B in Burgundy at a good price, this is your place!
