Housed in an amazing building. Start on the top floor and work your way down to the basement. If you like prehistory and Roman artefacts then you are in for a treat.

Interesting museum about human occupation in Burgandy region. Well put together. Intersting exhibition on at the moment with bonus English translations. Worth a visit if you are interested in pre-history. Also covers Roman archaeology. Spent just over a hour at this museum.

The exhibition about the "source de la Seine" was very good and informative. Also the building of the museum was very interesting. The temperature in the lower two rooms was rather low (you need to keep your jacket on), the upper room with roman and prehistorical items was heated.
Unfortunately, all information was only in French, it would have been great to read at least the most important information in English.

Located in an old abbey next to the cathedral, there are three huge levels of displays showcasing finds from the area, from stone age through to Roman.
One starts on the top floor where the oldest atrifacts are and you work your way down to the huge underground area containing a vast array of burial monuments and artifacts from Roman periods.
The displays are well notated but only in French, so it takes a bit of work to try and translate but one gets the general idea.
We were the only 2 visitors for the hour and a half leading to lunch time, which is surprising for a free museum.

Worth a look if you are in the area. Beautiful, rich history with pieces of the neolithic and gallo-roman period on display.
