“Suited our needs”
Reviewed 2 April 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights last summer and will be staying again this summer. It was perfectly adequate for our needs - a place to stay and rest at minimal cost. There is nothing fancy but what do you expect for a premiere classe at such a low price?

The location was handy - not too far from the local supermarket/garage; near to the peage; short walking distance/drive from Dijon centre; free secure parking; restaurant in next door hotel.

The staff were helpful and pleasant, although spoke no English. This was fine for me but any non French speakers may struggle, Having said that if you go equipped with a phrase book I'm sure they would help in any way possible.

having stayed in a 1er Classe hotel on a previous trip (Troyes sud) we decided to try Dijon Nord. This was a mistake. The beds were hard, pillows lumpy, everything reeked of tobacco in my room and the showers were cold. We were not expecting luxury but the basics would have been good for the 9 hours we were there! Left feeling grubby.

Room Tip: Just go somewhere else!

Nobody stays at a Premiere Classe expecting luxury. In other hotels within this chain I have always been happy with them as a place to lay my head, get a shower and a bite to eat before moving on the following day. On the whole I recommend the chain.

Unfortunately Premiere Classe Dijon fell short on the most basic of expectations. The pillows were old, discoloured and lumpy. There was no shower gel in the bathroom (a dispenser but with nothing in it) and when I told the receptionist in the morning she suggested that maybe I wasn't pushing the dispenser hard enough - a right surly madam who lacked people-skills in a big way! At breakfast time it seems reasonable enough to expect a normal old-fashioned cup of tea but sadly there was just coffee, hot chocolate, mint tea or earl grey. Again, the receptionist showed that we clearly weren't the first ones to ask by her snappy response. Instead of getting annoyed by people asking for tea, why not just go and buy some tea bags!

In the same area there are plenty of other hotels (F1, B&B, Etap, Kyriad, Campanille etc) and on this experience I would probably try some of those before going back to Premiere Classe.

This is not a fancy place, but deliver everything they promise by photos and description - which is not the case for most hotels! With a very pleasant pricetag you get a small but modern och fresh room with aircon, a simple breakfast and free wifi. Only 6€ additional charge for our dog which is also very cheap - most places charge you 15-20€. The area is not very nice as it is in an commercial zone, but nothing that came as a surprise to us. The hotel opposite offer dinner if you dont want to take a 15min drive into Dijon city.

WE stayed at this hotel on the way back from our trip to Turin. It was very difficult to find, in the middle of nowhere, the only place to eat was a macdonalds located on a one way system which made it virtually impossible to relocate the hotel. However, the hotel was extremely clean and tidy, very quiet (on account of it being miles from anywhere!) and we would probably stay here again, but ensure we had eaten before finding it. Wi fi worked in the room too.

If your looking for a nice, typical french hotel, with a nice view. This is not it!
But if your looking for a quick stay over, and you don't mind it is in a more or less industrial area. Than it is perfect. It's clean. Good bed. Shower is good, although the bathroom is very small. It made my think of something you see in a mobile home. It's value for money!
We didn't have breakfast. We want to a nearby bakery.

Room was clean but TINY. The "bathroom" was a plastic module stuck in the corner of the room, so tiny that it was literally hard to be able to soap my body in shower.

The rooms have one window that face the walkway outside the rooms. Passer-bys can peek inside (and even grab something from the room and walk away). The rooms have absolutely no air flow, and no AC. In June it was already hot enough for us to become very sweaty and we had trouble sleeping.

We tried finding a compromise between opening the window and curtain to let in airflow and privacy and security. This isn't the kind of stuff you want to be dealing with on a vacation.

Early in the morning we were awaken to the sound of some truck unloading gas canisters; the hotel is situated in an industrial region.

The hotel is fully automated and there's no one to talk to after evening. Their phone number does not lead to a human operator.
