We specifically went into Dijon to visit this museum. It was interesting but not stimulating, we had three of our children with us (7 - 11), who are used to visiting places. There wasn't anything for them to touch or play with (in fact, at one point my 9 year old, who is very well behaved, was told off for beginning to colour in a picture on a sheet of paper in a designated children's area - she was very upset to be to chastised). The shop facades were interesting although i would suggest people go to St Fagan's near Cardiff for a great trip to the past for a better experience.

This museum is off the beaten track. We went in July and were the only visitors there at that time. The museum tells a story about a Burgundian child showing what happens at each stage of their life. On the middle floor there are reconstructions of shops. Explanations are clear and exhibits are well set out.

This museum adjacent to the St Anne car park demonstrates the life in the olden days in Dijon and area. There are wonderful displays of shops, old workshops and different lifestyles. The attendants were helpful showing us the English book guide (not the lady at the reception desk) and guiding us to the next exhibits. It is free and the building is lovely. Well worth a visit especially with children.

This is one of the more interesting museums I have ever visited, and I have visited plenty. It is a labor of love that includes a large number of displays that are essentially recreations of old workshops, hat stores, cookie factories, and many other interesting reconstructed facilities, using authentic period materials and objects. Dijon has a very interesting history and this museum tells that history in a somewhat eclectic, but very interesting manner. it is highly recommended.

It shows life styles, shops and dressing at the 19th. century. It's like being in a shopping mall in the 1900s
