Visit this this charming little place every time I come to Saulieu. Food is always great, and the service is second to non, fully recommend this to any one traveling though, with the delightful multilingual waitress serving, always with a smile and pleasant conversation. This place is a must visit.

We stopped here for coffee, and went back later for lunch.
Very welcoming atmosphere, lively and jovial, and clearly popular with the locals. The set lunch was good value at 15 euro - liver pate, pork loin in a red wine sauce with rice, and a hot chocolaty pudding. Not haute cuisine by any means, but simple good-value food that came quickly.
The local red was pretty good too.

It's a place where you can feel as if you belong there after 2 visits! The food is not that great, but the best place in town for a morning coffee!

Passing through Saulieu on a surprisingly snowy March day, we were pleased to find the very basic Café parisien as we drove into town. I had read a little write-up saying it was a great food stop if you didn't want the expensive gourmet Michelin experience. Seated at a long table with 3 generations visiting from Bordeaux, we enjoyed the plat du jour (Montbéliard sausage with lentils) and baked potato covered with local Epoisses cheese, local ham (like prosciutto) and salad. Some of our table mates were watching (and betting on) the horse races playing on the TV, the grandparents engaged us in conversation (they had visited CA and loved it, we must come to Bordeaux, etc.); and the grandson enjoyed playing under the tables. This is a very casual place - hardwood floors, bentwood chairs, no cloth napkins. The chef stuck his head out to greet a friend at the bar and received a round of applause from everyone at our table.
