This restaurant is a little bit off the main dining area, but worth finding. It opened at 6:30, so for hungry foreigners it is a relief to be able to eat before 7:00. When we arrive at 6:30 it was, not surprisingly, empty, but it started to fill soon thereafter. We had good service and good food. We started with the asparagus entree (asparagus in all different forms) and followed that with a goat stew.

The Restaurant L'Alliance is situated in Rue Joyeuse - turn down under the clock tower in the town centre, take the first road on the left and the restaurant is c250m down on the right.
We were given a warm welcome and given the choice of outside, conservatory or dining room - all very pleasant.
The menu was short, assured that the cuisine would be first class and so it proved to be. The goat Pot au Feu was extremely good as was all the food. The cheese course was emblematic of the care taken - 3 very different local varieties, including a sage crusted cheese that was superb.
Highly recommended if you are visiting Amboise.

We entered L'Alliance to find there were few customers. This is usually a bad sign but we had a most enjoyable meal which was well presented. Perhaps it was just a quiet night and as it is a little off the beaten track; may be overlooked by some people.
The service was friendly and the food excellent. All the ingredients appeared to be produced locally and were an absolute delight. The final result was excellent value for money.

Simple menu with 5 main dishes, we tried three of them (pork, beef and goat leg), all excellent. All food and wine locally produced. Very friendly and attentive staff. All other guests seemed to be happy with their meals.

One of the best meals we have had this year. We enjoyed goat casserole and Rose Roi pork: the vegetable bake served with the pork was particularly good. Home made ice-cream was luscious. Flexible set-menu, choice of two or three courses. Wines by the glass were good too. We were sorry time allowed for only one visit.
