“Great Italian Pizza”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

Really nice Neapolitan style pizza (not sure why it was La Florentine, perhaps we should have tried some of the other mains!) but it certainly hit the spot after a long day of driving and visiting castles. Wish we had a place like this in Hong Kong!

“Delicious Pizza in the Shadow of the Chateau Amboise”
Reviewed 27 October 2011

My husband and I stayed in Amboise for 3 nights in Sept. 2011, and we ate dinner at La Florentine all 3 nights. We ate there the first night on a whim, since we did not arrive until around 8:30pm, and there were only a few restaurants on the main drag near the Chateau still open. However, we really enjoyed the pizza (thin crust) and salad, and ended up returning for two more meals. I recommend the vegetarian pizza, and my husband tried the pizza with potato and egg (I cannot remember the name) which was interesting but still tasty. My only complaint was the entree I had the 3rd night; which was a baked pasta dish. It was just not as good as the pizza!

Overall, the prices were reasonable, the outside dining was nice, and the service was acceptable.

“Was Desperate - Not Bad”
Reviewed 11 October 2011

Amboise was disappointing when it comes to dining.... several poor spots including the low-end tourist-oriented cafes along Place Michel Debre and one or two gems (Le Pavillon de Lys).

I'd put La Florentine in the former group. Pizza to go seemed to be a big part of its business. We sat outside and the pizza wasn't bad but i) we weren't in France for pizza, ii) certainly don't want to sit among tourists, and iii) have a problem with disorganized staff and service in a country that really excels in such areas.

Amboise isn't Paris in terms of late night dining. If you're hungry at after 9pm in Amboise, your options are very limited!

“Bon rapport qualité-prix”

Nous avons aimé nos pastas carbonara, spaghetti bolognese et calzone. Excellent service malgré l'affluence. Souper paisible sur la terrasse, au pied du château. Prix très raisonnables.

“Good pizza & pasta, but a bit disorganised.”
Reviewed 8 July 2010

A well situated restaurant opposite the Chateau in Amboise. One night we had the pasta which was excellent and a very generous portion. We returned and had pizzas on another night which were again delicious.
Sadly the second time the waiting staff were all over the place with uncleared tables and a long wait between receiving menus and ordering. This seemed to be affecting most of the customers on the terrace, not just us. Fortunately we were in no hurry and had made the most of the chateau view and an aperitif while we waited.
