My sister and I stayed here for a few days during our time in the Loire valley. The accommodations were excellent and we had a beautiful breakfast each morning in the garden. However, what made our stay particularly remarkable, was that not only did Patrick Savin drive us to the train station on our way out of town, after arriving back in Paris I discovered I had left my wallet in our room, and HE VERY KINDLY AGREED TO MAIL IT BACK TO ME IN THE STATES!!!!! Not a penny was missing and he sent me a kind note on quaint Amboise stationary apologizing for the delay! It is rare in this world to find such kindness, generosity, and honesty. I felt so stupid and it really could have ruined my day, and put a damper on my trip, if I had left it somewhere and it was stolen. You know how it goes: phone calls to cancel credit cards, figuring how to use the phone in another country, trying to get money wired over for the rest of your trip, etc, etc. It would have been a nightmare. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and will never be able to thank the Savins enough for their kindness. The least I can do is let others know that this is a wonderful place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Amboise B&B. Yveline is delightful. Our comfortable room included a large bed and plenty of room to spread out our things, as well as a bathroom with hand-held shower, and wifi. The room does not have a TV, but there is so much to see & do in the area there really isn't a need for TV. The whole house is spotlessly clean. Breakfast included yogurt, fruit, croissants, juice, muesli, and bread, and your choice of hot beverage. Perfect to start the day. There is free parking down the street in a square. Less than 5 minutes walk. Plenty of restaurants in Amboise to satisfy your appetite for delicious French food, but be sure to make a reservation ahead! We would definitely stay again!

We stayed here for a few nights in October 2013 in order to visit some Loire Valley chateaux. This property is truly memorable and special. An impeccably and elegantly converted farm property, La Grange Chambres is a small (just 4 rooms) and quiet place with very pleasant and accommodating owners, Yveline and Patrick Savin. We couldn't have been happier with either them or the accommodations. Our ensuite room was spacious, comfortable, very clean, and it provided a cheery view of the Savin's pretty garden. Yes, this is a Bed and BREAKFAST--and if the former is wonderful, then the latter is simply superb. Yveline made a number of the edibles herself--including some very tasty confitures. We would be most delighted if we had the opportunity to stay here again.

The B and B is conveniently situated a short walk from the center of Amboise--just far enough away to ensure neighborhood quiet. There are many pleasant shops and markets to visit. (Try to have some of the delicious regional Rillettes [pate] from one of the several charcuteries.) Be sure to tour the impressive Royal Chateau d'Amboise with its excellent grounds, buildings and rooms, furnishings, and views of the Loire and the rooftops of Amboise--not to mention its stylishly Gothic Saint-Hubert Chapel (where Leonardo DaVinci is buried). On the back side of the chateau, along Place Michel Debre, there are a number of restaurants whose outdoor seating provides an opportunity to sip wine or dine while people-watching and admiring the chateau's majestic heights and towers. We especially enjoyed, inside and out, the restaurant Chez Bruno and its excellent meals and proprietor-made wines.

If you are arriving in Amboise by train, be aware that La Grange Chambres--as well as nearly all of the Amboise locations you would want to visit--is located across the Loire. If you have a lot of luggage to carry or if you have difficulty transporting such items and yourself along uneven sidewalks and streets for the 15+-minute jaunt, then arrange for a cab or consult ahead of time with Yveline or Patrick. They may have some transport suggestions for you. (We did fine ourselves and are not, ahem, all that fit or young!)

Room Tip: Our room was directly across from the top of the stairs and overlooked the property's garden.

La Grange Chambres is our favorite place to stay in France. We keep coming back because of this beautiful B&B and its great owners -- Yveline and Patrick. We've stayed here three times in the last five years and if we're fortunate enough to get back to France, we'll try to book here again. The guest rooms are excellent -- comfortable, clean, attractively decorated, and reasonably priced. We've been fortunate always to book the largest of the three guest rooms. It can sleep four people (one queen bed, two singles), but for two people, it truly is a luxury, especially if you come here straight from Paris and it's cramped accommodations. The price was 85 euros which includes breakfast. You can easily spend more than that on a two-star hotel and not be nearly so comfortable. One of the really nice features of La Grange Chambres is the original art that decorates the walls, in the public areas and in the rooms. Yveline has worked very hard to create very beautiful spaces.

Breakfast is the usual fare for France -- croissants, baguettes, jellies, cheese, fresh orange juice, etc. One day we saw Patrick come through the front gate with a large armload of slightly over ripe bananas. The next day we had home made banana jam -- something I'd never tasted before. Unfortunately, I had to share it with other guests. The best part of breakfast is the interaction with Yveline and Patrick. Most of the time, they're out of sight, but they always show up to make sure everything is perfect for the morning meal. Yveline truly enjoys talking with her guests even when there's a language barrier. Somehow, everybody catches her enthusiasm. Pretty soon the guests are all talking with each other even though they don't speak the same language. A lot can be transmitted with a word understood here and there and gestures. Sometimes there's one person who can translate for everybody.

This B&B is conveniently located in the heart of Amboise which has a full range of business services available. Restaurants, banks, supermarkets, and more are all located within easy walking distance.

We had a rainy stay in Amboise, but the welcome at La Grange was warm and inviting. Our room was exceptionally clean and very large, one of the largest, most comfortable rooms in our five week stay in France. Breakfast every morning was outstanding: granola, an excellent selection of breads and croissants, yogurt, fresh jams made daily, a platter of cheese, delicious coffee, and a large selection of fruits, which stayed out all day long for the guests to eat. The B & B is totally secure with a locked gate at the entrance, is centrally located, and it has a beautiful walled in garden with table and chairs for the guests. I would definitely stay again at La Grange, and would recommend it to anyone staying in Amboise.

Room Tip: Any room is great.

Our family of three stayed four nights with Yveline in a large lovely room with a window over the inner courtyard. Breakfast was a feast with homemade confitures and Yveline introducing guests to each other with lively chatter. In our two weeks all over northern France, this was hands down our favorite lodging. The room was large and well kept. Warning, no wifi which my family almost revolted about but quickly recovered. No AC but even in August the evenings were cool and the windows let in plenty of cool air. Yveline is a wonderful and gracious host. When we discovered the laundromat was shut down, she even let us run a couple of loads in her laundry, and we could keep picnic items in the fridge. Great central location for exploring the chateaux and the eastern Loire. We picnicked lunch and most dinners right in the inner courtyard during our stay. Highly recommended!
