We stayed at Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes for 3 nights, breaking up our journey home from the south of France. We arrived late one afternoon and found the hotel very easily. After a quick check-in, we were shown to our room on the 1st floor of the coach-house. A lovely sized bedroom, and a bathroom with a large bath and a shower. The bed was very comfortable, I slept well for all 3 nights.
There is free WiFi for hotel guests. The access point is located in the main building and we were told that the signal might not be very good in our room, but on all of our devices (phones, tablet & e-book) the signal was very strong.
We had breakfast at the hotel on the first morning, and it was a selection of pastries, bread, fruit and cheese, as well as tea and coffee. It was ok, but at 16 Euros, a little pricey. We decided to eat in the town for the next 2 mornings; only a 2 minute walk away and we could sit in the sun enjoying coffee and pastries whilst watching the town wakeup, for less than half the price of the hotel breakfast.
The first member of hotel staff we met couldn't have been any nicer. His English was very good, he was polite and friendly, and he recommended us a lovely restaurant to eat in, and booked us a table. We met several other members of staff who were also very friendly. However, we did venture into the lounge one evening for a drink, but after spending 5 minutes looking for a member of staff (no-one in the lounge or reception), we decided not to bother waiting any longer.
Amboise is a lovely town with a good number of things to do, but after a lot of walking about we occasionally like to relax and do nothing. It was hard to do at Manoir les Minimes because of the lack of a pool/lounger area (chairs in the car-park area don't really count). The only place to relax really was in our room. Before we came to Amboise, we also looked at Château de Pray. The upside to staying there is the pool area that they have, and the downside is that it is a 5 minute drive outside Amboise which means a taxi ride when you want to pop into town (or spend an age driving round the one-way system looking for a parking space). We are glad we chose Manoir les Minimes, and it's not a problem if you are going to be busy all day long, but we did miss a relaxing pool area to chill-out by.
It's not perfect, but Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes is a lovely hotel.
