“Perfect location for a really nice hotel”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

We stayed at Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes for 3 nights, breaking up our journey home from the south of France. We arrived late one afternoon and found the hotel very easily. After a quick check-in, we were shown to our room on the 1st floor of the coach-house. A lovely sized bedroom, and a bathroom with a large bath and a shower. The bed was very comfortable, I slept well for all 3 nights.
There is free WiFi for hotel guests. The access point is located in the main building and we were told that the signal might not be very good in our room, but on all of our devices (phones, tablet & e-book) the signal was very strong.
We had breakfast at the hotel on the first morning, and it was a selection of pastries, bread, fruit and cheese, as well as tea and coffee. It was ok, but at 16 Euros, a little pricey. We decided to eat in the town for the next 2 mornings; only a 2 minute walk away and we could sit in the sun enjoying coffee and pastries whilst watching the town wakeup, for less than half the price of the hotel breakfast.
The first member of hotel staff we met couldn't have been any nicer. His English was very good, he was polite and friendly, and he recommended us a lovely restaurant to eat in, and booked us a table. We met several other members of staff who were also very friendly. However, we did venture into the lounge one evening for a drink, but after spending 5 minutes looking for a member of staff (no-one in the lounge or reception), we decided not to bother waiting any longer.
Amboise is a lovely town with a good number of things to do, but after a lot of walking about we occasionally like to relax and do nothing. It was hard to do at Manoir les Minimes because of the lack of a pool/lounger area (chairs in the car-park area don't really count). The only place to relax really was in our room. Before we came to Amboise, we also looked at Château de Pray. The upside to staying there is the pool area that they have, and the downside is that it is a 5 minute drive outside Amboise which means a taxi ride when you want to pop into town (or spend an age driving round the one-way system looking for a parking space). We are glad we chose Manoir les Minimes, and it's not a problem if you are going to be busy all day long, but we did miss a relaxing pool area to chill-out by.
It's not perfect, but Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes is a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: If in the coach-house, the upstairs rooms have a better view and more privacy.

We booked here after reading reviews on trip advisor. The hotel, the staff, the room were all extremely pleasant. The hotel is a beautiful building, with a nice outdoor seating area. The staff are friendly, helpful, and showed great interest in making your stay meet expectations.
The breakfast service had an abundance of pastries, cereals, cheese and some eggs. the hotel is also in a great location to explore Amboise, Amboise restaurants, and the Loire Valley.

Arrived at the hotel in the pouring rain however it certainly didn't spoil our appreciation of this beautiful hotel. The staff were polite and helpful and even put up with us being late for breakfast! We stayed in the cottage and the room was lovely with enough room for our 13 year old son on the sofa bed. It is located within a 2 minute walk of Amboise town. Amboise itself is absolutely delightful and well worth that long drive from Cherbourg. Only downside we didn't stay long enough.

'Wow'.

That's what we said as we drove into the driveway.

It's what we said as we walked through the front door.

It's what we said as we went up the stairs.

It's what we said as we entered our room.

And it's what I said (in a good way) when we paid the bill.

This place looks BEAUTIFUL (I mean really beautiful), has impeccable service (I mean really impeccable) and generally has the feel of a hotel which would normally cost much, much more. My girlfriend mentioned feeling like she was living 'how the other half live' - and yet we could afford it.

No, we didn't have a shower in our room, but with a bath the size of a small planet and so many other wonderful touches, that's a funny thing to quibble over. Amboise isn't the sort of place you feel as though you should be rushing for a shower instead of relaxing in a bath anyway, to be honest.

Conceived as a very brief stop off on our drive from Paris to the South West coast, we found ourselves wishing we could stay much, much longer, and we both agreed that this hotel was the highlight of our (extremely enjoyable) 2 week holiday. We even said that, even if we were to win Euromillions, we don't think we would be able to find a nicer place to stay.

We will be returning, I'm sure of it.

Room Tip: We had a corner room with a view of both the river and the chateau. If you can, ask for the same.

You won't find a better option in Amboise yet hotel is hardly perfect. On the bright side: the location is excellent close to the town (restaurants, shops Etc), the hotel presentation is nice and the prices reasonable. On the down side, since older building hotel rooms are small and walls very thin. The room we stayed in lacked a shower and bed a bit thin. the staff and service were a bit indifferent and slow.

Again, best available in Amboise and would stay again thought far from total satisfaction.

Beautiful hotel, great location. Walk to everything. Room is large and air conditioned. The hotel is beautiful and very much like living in a chateau. Breakfast is available at a price in a beautiful dining room. Amboise is a wonderful place to do the Loire Valley.

Room Tip: Regular room, ground floor is great!
