Lovely setting, beautiful light and airy room (we stayed in one of the manor suites) and superb staff. This is a well managed hotel providing a genuinely warm welcome and personal service. Highly recommended.

This is one of the nicest hotels in which we have stayed. Its situated just below the Chateau Amboise and faces it. From our room (superior) we could see the Chat and the bridge that goes over the river nearby. At night with these lit up, it was a most stunning sight. Friends had a cheaper room one floor above and even though the room was not as opulant it was still lovely and faced the Chat also and thus had a beautiful view.
THe hotel is done out with the most exquisite taste, everything is lovely and carefully chosen to enhance the ambience of the historical building which is the hotel.
The staff were extremely welcoming, particularly as we'd called ahead to say we may be late in arriving due to an horrendous attempt to drive out of Paris! TIP - use and print out Michelin guide map directions if you are without a GPS. We drove around Paris for about 3 hours or more before we could find the main freeway to Amboise - head for Bordeaux folks! So we were very touched when the reception manager came out to greet us as we arrived and kindly showed us inside. He was also magnificent a few days later, ringing me to tell me that our travelling companions had left their passports in the room safe! Never mind- they were couriered on to Amiens for a modest amount and were waiting when we arrived there 2 days later. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and coupled with the fact that Amboise is a beautiful Loire town, I would say go there and enhance your visit to France by staying in this hotel. We were lucky to have our visit also coincide with the Spring Fair so had the pleasure of watching 45minutes of fireworks over the bridge/river from our room on the Saturday night. Pinch me to see if I'm awake!

Location - stunning. First impressions - WOW! Welcome - warm, informative, unfussy but caring. Room - a large deluxe on first floor (no. 11), superb views of the river and chateau, spacious, has excellent comfort and privacy. Even the mini-bar is not ridiculously priced! Hotel is furnished to extremely luxurious high standard throughout, and has a 'lived-in' country house feel to it, especially in the downstairs lounge rooms and 'bar' area. Hotel has lots of private and secure parking, and a residents keycode entry system after 10.30pm. Breakfast at 13 Euros is a bargain - freshly baked pastries, strong coffee, cheese, meats, cereals, freshly squeezed juices and as much as you wish, with attentive but unintrusive service. This hotel is very easy walking distance to Amboise town centre which has a wide variety of eating options, depending on budget - the Pavillion de Lys restaurant is a must for those gastronomes fancying an unhurried 8 course tasting menu with robust wine list (see other review).

This fabulous hotel, delicious restaurant and beautiful, vibrant town was an extremely fortunate choice of overnight stop-gap on our way between Calais and the Dordogne. Perhaps the only mistake made was staying just one night - although I'm not sure waistline or wallet would manage too many more evenings like this one!!

Les Minimes was one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms are comfortable, luxurious and beautifully decorated with fantastic views of the chateau. The location couldn't be better. The public rooms, breakfast room and outdoor areas are all first class but, what sets this hotel apart is the service. No where (on a 28 day trip) were we made to feel more welcome or recieve better service than here. Gilles is 5* and seemed to always being going one step beyond what was expected for everyone. This hotel is a gem and I highly recommend it.

We booked a room for two nights on the combined basis of family recommendation and good public reviews. It was lovely, as expected. Amazingly, our very spacious "deluxe" room with wonderful river and rose-trellis views (and a partial view of he chateau as well) only cost 20 euros more a night than our very small Paris hotel room, which was in a more modest though charming hotel on the Left Bank.

Amboise itself is delightful--the chateau is much more interesting than most travel guides seem to give it credit for. The Manoire les Minimes location is great since you can park in the courtyard and walk up to the town and the chateau in a very few minutes. And if you do not have a car you are an easy walk to town and a longer but still doable one to Clos Luce (the de Vinci manor house).

Our room in addition to being spacious had a little alcove with a comfortable sofa and TV. Lighting was very good so we could read at night. Bathroom was very nice and rather luxurious though the hair dryer did not work (a burn-damaged hose). Separate little toilet room very small but serviceable.

Public areas are spectacularly nice. Lovely furnishings, gracious feeling, lots of reading material--just right. The only negative: the 13-euro breakfast is a little disappointing but it is graciously served, so if you do not want to bother going up the hill to town for something either better or cheaper it is perfectly okay (though I don't think I would have their breakfast if I stayed there again).

Gracious staff, welcoming desk people, and even the giant sheep dog adds to the ambience. Everything seems to have been carefully crafted to fit the image of the perfect upscale French inn in the perfect French tourist town and it works beautifully.

Overall, an excelelnt lodging choice for a visit to the Loire chateaux.

Very easy to walk to restaurants and lovely view of the castle.
On our last day, our taxi did not arrive and someone from the hotel took us to the train station so we did not miss our train - a very much appreciated excellent service.

We stayed here briefly in the summer of 2005 and couldn't wait to return. We returned for 10 days in March of 2009 and were not disappointed. We used the hotel to relax as well as a base to make daily trips to the surrounding villages and chateau's.

So the best first. It's truly the staff that makes this one the best places we've ever stayed. Everyone from the owners to the chambermaids are professional, helpful, and courteous without being stuffy. Their english was excellent. The friendly front desk staff were warm and super helpful. They made a good stay into a great experience. The better we got to know the staff, the more they were able to make our visit special.

The manor(hotel) is located in Amboise on the Loire river with a million dollar view of the chateau perched on the cliffs above. And its only a 3 minute walk to the village of Amboise, the Chateau, and Leonardo DaVinci's house (yes, that DaVinci). It is very easy to access the hotel from the major highways and local roads. You don't need to fight any traffic to get in and out, and there's gated secure parking, which makes it a wonderful base to explore the region by car any time of the day.

Our room, if not all, have a spectacular view of the chateau and the Loire river. It was big and nicely appointed. The king bed was feather soft. The internet was reliable and fast. They also had the fastest room service that I have ever seen. We went down for breakfast and by the time we came back to the room it was already cleaned, made up and lightly scented.

While they don't have a restaurant, the continental breakfast is good and very filling. The staff takes great pride in recommending a wide range of restaurants. There is usually a stack of menus at the front that they will happily translate for you ahead of time so you don't accidentally end up with an organ on your plate. Please don't confine yourself to walking to Amboise for food. The staff have their personal lists of the best restaurants in the area, of which most are less than 25 minutes away nestled in small villages. If you're traveling to sights in the region we also got recommendations of restaurants as far away as Chinon to the west (ask Pierre) and Blois to the east (ask Gilles). Make sure you visit the small Le Theatre du Pain, in Blois for great pastries!

I could go on and on, but suffice to say Patrice and Eric, the owner/managers, along with Pierre, Gilles, Françoise and Olga the house dog, are always striving to make Manoir Les Minimes a superior place to stay. We recommend it highly and can't wait to return.
