Stayed here for four nights towards the end of June in our motorhome.
It really is in a wonderful position, on an island in the middle of the Loire within 10 minutes of the picturesque town of Amboise with its bars, restaurants and shops (a Carrefour City just across the bridge).
Site facilities are high quality, clean and modern, indeed one of the amenity blocks would appear to be almost brand new. If you put to one side the absence of toilet paper, you could almost be on a Caravan Club site. Pitches are spacious and shady but with old fashioned two-pin electrics and someone did seem to have mislaid the lawnmower though. The bar / snack bar is also a welcome amenity, we didn't eat but the drinks are reasonably priced.
It is also one of the most secure sites I've ever come across. Everyone has an individual access code (for both the vehicle access and pedestrian gate) and whilst there are other pedestrian access gates around the site, these are locked early in the evening. The whole site is surrounded by (unobtrusive) security fencing.
The other thing is that it is busy, even at night. Whilst it's not impossible to gain access, burglary on a well lit, popular site would seem to be risky - we always felt safe.
We will return but nevertheless will be aware of others' experiences but don't let this stop you going. We spoke to other seasoned travellers who'd been there before and had experienced no difficulties.
